River North barrel-ages their quad, Quandary. They just released a rum-barrel version last month.

Unfortunately, they only distribute in Colorado (and now officially in Kansas City as of last month).

Labyrinth is essentially a BA imperial stout as far as my thinking goes. Sure tasted like one. Not sure what compelled Uinta to name it a quadruple black ale, but it's not be confused with a quadrupel.

Is Velvet Fog still being brewed? I was under the impression that it was a one-off.

I tried a La Trappe Quercus which was absolutely mind blowing. Maybe a little tough to find though.

You can also add Prairie Okie (Imperial Brown Ale aged in oak whiskey barrels). Very good BA Quad.

I respectfully disagree, I thought this beer was the most sugary drink I have ever had. Barely finished it.

Sticky Monkey is not a quad at all. My three favorites have been Boulevard BBQ, Unibroue 17 and Weyerbacher Blasphemy.

Weyerbacher's house style is definitely on the sweet side- especially with the beers that are pre-barrel (Imp Stout, Barleywine and Quad). I'm not so crazy about those by themselves, but the barrels usually tame them and coax some very nice coconut and vanilla qualities out as well. They are not the most consistent, unfortunately (especially the last two years), but I still think they are worth a try. It's also why I give them a 'pretty good' these days instead of something better.

    from Firestone Walkers website:
"A Belgian Quad by recipe, but aging it in spirits barrels garners its own category: Central Coast Quad."

sure, people may call it a strong ale, but its a quad.

The problem is that although they changed the classification from English Barleywine for the draft only version that they used previously for blending to Central Coast Quad for the bottle release, they tasted pretty much the exact same. A hint of Belgian Candi Sugar is the only detectable differnce.

Pannepot Reserva is aged in Oak barrels, Pannepot Grand Reserva is also aged in Calvados barrels. I prefer regular Pannepot to Reserva, have not cracked my Grand Reserva yet so can't comment.

I keep hearing we're going to get some here, but no sign of it yet. I really prefer the Belgian and Trappist varieties over American Quads.

Must agree that Labyrinth and Stickee Monkee aren't quads.

    BBQ is my fave...

Everybody keeps mentioning Boulevard BBQ. I thought it was really good, but I liked their non-barrel quad (The Sixth Glass) better. Same thing with their BBA Imperial Stout.

I love Three Taverns Quasimodo which is the base beer for "Heavy Bells". I have a few bottles of Heavy Bells that I just got and am very excited about. A friend had one and said that it fell a little flat for him. He seems to think that it will taste better after sitting for a few months. I will have one soon and probably hold onto the other ones. For what it is worth I have been impressed by the other beers from Three Taverns though.
