Here in the burbs, I've seen it sold by the bottle for $4.99, and the sheep were lining up to buy as much as they can. Like you said, it's a great beer, but not at that price point.

I still think Backwoods is at a pretty good price for being a very good barrel aged beer in 4-packs. Plenty of it to be found around $15-$16 a 4-pack in Chicago, sometimes cheaper. I was actually just arguing with people a few weeks ago how I thought Rev BA beers were overpriced, saying that I'll save my money on $16+ bombers of Gravedigger Billy to get more than double the oz. of Backwoods for the same price (though that also introduces the bomber vs. 4-packs pricing issue). Aside from Central Waters, I really don't know where you find a comparable barrel aged beer in terms of price/quality.

I'm not a bourbon guy, so I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to do some comparative pricing there.

I'm usually all over these things, and of course the one time I wasn't it falls in my lap. Happened to have the day off work, running errands, stopped by the Binny's in the South Loop, and there was a ton at $11.99/4 pack. The problem I have here is that BCBS is my go-to and it will be out in a couple of weeks. Backwoods is a really good Bourbon aged beer, but takes a back seat to BCBS. I don't think anyone will argue this, otherwise the price points would be similar. Anyways, enjoyed one tonight - really, really good, but in the end, made me excited for two weeks from now when the big dog arrives.

If you are still looking, as of about an hour ago the Lincoln Park Whole Foods off of North has a few cases on the floor at $15.99 / 4-pack. A bit pricey, but worth it to me.

How can you compare this beer to BCBS other than the fact that its barrel aged? Totally different styles, both beers are awesome though!

For others curious about this price, I called Binny's SL earlier and was told the price is 14.99. Not sure what the deal was the other day.

Chicago: I also went to whole foods today in Lincoln Park. They had several cases on the floor and a bunch in the fridge if anyone is still looking tonight / tomorrow.

Enjoying my first Backwoods. No doubt it is great. But, Wulver > Backwoods and I don't have to chase a truck to get it.

Apparently places around SE Michigan are hitting a second allotment this week. How typical is this and is it generally only for a couple weeks, or should we expect to see it show up for a few weeks in a row?

It's typical for BB and you'll probably still see some through December.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess that means I don't have to chase the truck to try to land a few more bottles before the end of the season.

Great beer! I think you can get Thirsty Dog there, right? If not, let me know and I'll hook you up.

I don't think Indiana gets Wulver. We typically only get the standard releases I believe. I could be wrong. I've never seen Wulver here though. I've had it though and it's pretty good. I prefer Backwoods, but to each their own.
