I was disappointed by the bourbon bastard too. You really have to let it get close to room temp before you can really notice any. However, it did make it a smoother drinking beer. Still good, but not great.

All that being said. I will be buying a couple more. This is how you do bombers. $20 for a box that includes at least 2 world class beers, and a barrel aged one. Kudos to Stone. They and Lagunitas are kicking everyones ass when it comes to big bottle format.

Completely in agreement here. Had higher hopes for Lukcy Basatrd as well. Reg AB and DB were the best bottles in the box.

To each his own  I found the bourbon flavor came in mostly on the finish. A nice and sweet, vanilla caramel flavor. Worth noting that I have been drinking more AB than ever this year via the mixed 12's, and finished all three AB's from the boxes I bought (separate days :stuck_out_tongue:) before cracking the BBA. I'll be the first to admit I'm not very picky, but I would call it a great beer. Anxtremely easy-drinking, yet pretty rich and flavorful beer, that only seemed to get better as I drank it.
[Speaking of Stone's awesome pricing, the mixed 12's!]

On the topic of freshness, I prefer them all fresh. I'm not positive Double Bastard is dry hopped, but if not, it surely has some very late additions of Chinook.

    Cheers!

You are certanly entitled to your opinion, despite it being wrong . Seriously though, I did enjoy it more as I made my way through it. I drink lot... Um, a fair amount of bourbon/s, so I am probably harder to please. Like any beer, I do like balance though. The barreling was still a positive spin on this one. I have it rated just under 4. The Lucky Bastard set the bar pretty high in this 4 pack though. Once again, great price point. I will certainly be consuming more.

Hit every store last week. You're late to the party but there's some still out and around, Ale Yeah! Roswell has two for sure, Decatur three or four from last count yesterday. Most bigger places should still be sitting on a few too since they got a lot of it.

It seems like I'm always in the minority, but here goes...

When I first started getting into craft beer, I couldn't figure out why Arrogant Bastard was awesome sometimes and other times crappy. I chalked it up to poor quality control or my taste buds acting differently on different days. Then I realized the ones I didn't like were the freshest and the ones that were great had a little age on them, say 6 months. Another minority story: I wasn't a huge fan of any beer at the brewery when I went there. They all had a distinct sharp, painfulness that must age out when it arrives to MI. To each their own.

I'm having the BA Arrogant Bastard as I speak, and thoroughly enjoying it. If you're expecting Bourbon County, you're 1) an idiot and 2) going to be be disappointed. But if you're expecting something that brings a little barrel character to AB—think, dump out about 6oz of a bomber of AB and replace it with Backwoods Bastard (they'll get along, both being bastards)—then this should make you pretty happy. And for the price...

Can't believe bevmo was selling it for $24 and Costco down the street was selling it for $16!!! I should buy Bevmo stock to hedge my losses!

My BevMo and Costco share a parking lot; I bought it from the former just in case it didn't show up at the latter, and when it did, you'd better believe I returned it at BevMo.

Costco in Fresno has it for 14.99...what a steal. I only bought one, but will be going back to snag more.
