    I love this beer.

This Imperial Pilsner, fermented with local, hand-picked blue spruce tips is the quintessential symbol for Joe Short’s love of hops and craft beer. The spruce presence, rooted in historical brewing practices, is enormous and gives the beer a refreshing quality reminiscent of gin. This beer is impressively light bodied, considering the immense spruce flavors and the prodigious additions of hops.

I love nearly every single Shorts release but I gotta say I don't see what people like in this beer. It tastes like a liquid pine tree

I wasn't a huge fan of the bottles but I loved the Imperial version I had on draught last year at Box Bar in Plymouth. The pine taste was a little more subtle and it was a lot smoother.

Damn right! Love this stuff. Reminds me of being in the back country & taking a "pine-tree bath" by walking through a bunch of spruce & grabbing handfuls of the needles. At least your hands smell good for a while.

The imperial version bottled in 750 was overwhelming. I opened it with my wife. She hated it, so I ended up drinking the whole thing. Once of the only beers ever that I liked but had a hard time finishing.

I really wish Shorts would go back to bombers for their imperial series.

I love this beer so much. Definitely a favorite from Shorts. One of the most interesting beers I have ever had.

I guess I should be prepared to be on the lookout.

I had this for the first time at one of the parties in Half Acre's brewery. It immediately brought to mind a quote from a story Sam from Dogfish Head told at an event I was at about the early days of the brewery/brewpub. Back then they had only that little pilot system in the brewpub and he was experimenting making different beers and they had comment cards for the people who came in (nearly all regulars, Dogfish being basically an unknown little local brewpub at the time) to comment on the beers so they'd get feedback from their customers. On one comment card for a beer that, if I remember correctly, after some tweaking and changes eventually became Immort Ale, someone left the following comment:

"It tastes like trees, but it got me fucked up"

UPDATE: Our likely time of Spruce hitting the shelfs will be around June 25.

    That is all.

Is there a summer schedule for Short's in terms of what beers are in the works? I need to plan my trips accordingly.

That is another thing I totally disagree on, love the 12oz bottles and the ability to buy it in singles.
