    An evidently popular APA Sunday.

It's definitely cooling off in West MI. Started the day with Premier League soccer on tv and got in a quick, chilly run this morning before enjoying today's new beer with lunch.

I love the balance and bold flavor. If there's anything of a "session barleywine" this would be it.

Can you tell us a little something about the beer and your sorrows as well? Over here in NBS we don't require a full review but what sets it apart form WBAYDN is that we describe the beer or link to a review and not just offer a pic. We also chat about our lives =)

My husband traveled out west and brought back some great beers. Things we never tried. Too bad my Bills lost today. "Drowning my sorrows "

48 degrees, drizzly and gray in Spokane right now, and it’s time for another new beer this Sunday as I watch the ‘hawks sputter against the Giants. Yesterday’s college games were hit and miss for me. My Dawgs fell to UCLA, but my Eagles beat Montana decisively, with EWU’s all-world QB returning to the field and having a pretty good day for a guy who broke his freaking foot a few weeks ago.

This time I’m going with a porter from Boise I picked up last time I was in Idaho:

    It’s okay, nothing remarkable.

Not sure if I’ll keep on hitting new things or if it’s time to open a bottle of Fat I picked up in a grocery store in Oly. This seems like a good day for something big and malty.

Founder's Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale. Nice taste and malty mouth feel. Since my wife already thinks I'm one, I might as well have another. Nudge, wink.

A friend recommended this one and I'm glad he did. This is a very bold and robust imperial stout. I paid $6 for the bottle and I'd do it again. Slowly sipping this one during the Giants game. Hope everyone is having a relaxing sunday filled with awesome beer

Good afternoon NBS from the PNW! It seems more like fall outside today. Was cloudy and rainy but now the sun is poking through, not sure how long this is gonna last. Today during the Chiefs the game I had this.
Mariposa Pale Ale from Crooked Letter Brewing in MS.
I enjoyed the Mango in this. After it warms up the Jalapeno shows through. Its almost overwhelming at the end.
This a limited brew and it looks like the bottles are numbered. This one happens to be number 654.

Respectable, but not anything special. I bit harsh on the hops, but drinkable. I'd try something different next time, but I wouldn't avoid this.

Not having a dog in the hunt (am a Colts fan) let me say that was a hard fought game. Yer Bills just came up a little short, that's all. Very physical. Good football.

4 new beers this weekend on a quick trip to the Oregon Cape Meares coast, ranked from 3.93 to 3.6.

o: 3.75 - Lighter, hopper side of porter

    Pelican silver spot ipa

S: 3.5 Toasted malt underneath grassy hop profile.
T: 3.75 - Follows the smell, with a firm sweet malt under tone, highlighted by grassy, piney hops. Pleasant, a bit sweet, ice tea like.

O: 3.5 - Very pleasant every day kind of IPA - not really worth the extra ABV. Tasted at Tillamook.

Overall it was a pretty good day here in central Ohio, kinda cool this morning but got up to the 50's this afternoon. I can't ever complain about a nice sunny day! By the way, I had a couple new brews today too!

Both of these were pretty good, picked them up a couple weeks ago on a trip to Indy. I wasn't disappointed with either one, so it was a good NBS for me. Not sure if I'll have another new beer today or not, but if I do I'll post it here! Cheers everyone!

    New Brown Ale Sunday

    Greetings All:

I bought a gallon and a half of SoDo Brown Ale at Growler Guys for one of my Tap-A-Draft jugs on Friday.

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17005/55833/

A nice sweet and roasty brew, perfect for a fall day. A solid offering from Two Beers Brewing.

I have been sitting here for most of the afternoon trying to figure out why the Seahawks are having so much trouble with the Giants, who frankly stunk on Monday night. Looks like the game is going to be broken open late. 'Bout time!

Seasonal here in the Columbia Basin, rain overnight and early today, with a sunny but breezy afternoon, temps into the mid 50's. The leaves are blowing on the lawn like golden snow.

A Blessed Veterans Day to all my service brethren (USAF 1981-89). One of my favorite holidays. Meaningful and uncomplicated.

    Happy Trails!

    Howdy NBSers!

I just finished my first week of the night night shift at work. One week down, only 129 more to go! All I have to say about that the existence of beer makes me a very grateful man.

Speaking of beer, I have a glass full of one that is new to me today. It goes by the name of Slow Elk by Big Sky Brewing. It's an oatmeal stout, and here's what I thought of it:

It pours black with a big, tan head that dissipates into nothing rather quickly. I could smell roasty malt notes when I began pouring the beer. When I stick my nose in the glass, I get dark chocolate, root beer, and a touch of vanilla in the background of those roasty malts. The taste is much sweeter than the nose lead me to believe, which leads to a lingering aftertaste of milk chocolate. Body is on the lighter side, making for a nice, easy drinking brew. Overall, this is another winner from Big Sky!

    Have a great week everyone!
    Cheers!

    New American Porter Sunday

Good to see so many good beers and opinions of those ales, howdy!

Weather has been too good we need a frost asap to kill the damned ticks. They seem to know the end is near and are trying hard to get on my dog and myself. Spend the day trying to get beefed up, lifting and eating tons of protein. Also got a good laugh out of the can pyramid building going on in wbydn. I finally have time to sit back and relax with a new beer.

Unfiltered and unpasteurized porter brewed with Vermont grown organic coffee and aged on organic vanilla beans.

7:30 feels a lot like midnight these days, hope you all have a nice end of the week and a better week ahead
    Cheers!

It is indeed a very subtle wildfire of controlled madness. Old ladies are buying good beer and unremembering Rhiengold Chug-a-Mug. Honestly, the beer scene here is very special and a nice piece of culture. Thanks again!
