I'm proud to finally find one at my home-town brewery.

Lost Rhino out of Ashburn, VA brews an incredible Belgian IPA called Birth of Ace. Now I absolutely love GI Matilda, but this one was more balanced (even though it had a higher ABV) and "funkier."

Lost Rhino Brews don't often impress me, but they blew this one out of the water.

Based on some of the breweries being mentioned, I'd say Treehouse Brewing qualifies. Everything they make is phenomenal and they're still tiny, but I'd say their name is getting pretty well-known nationwide.

I tried 1 or 2 Lost Rhino brews a couple years back and wasn't impressed. I definitely will revisit and try to find the Birth of Ace. Their name and label art for the brewery is pretty awesome IMO.

HF,Alchemist and Lawson's steal the limelight: Fiddlehead Brewery is a major contender with their Mastermind & 2nd Fiddle IIPA plus their other great offerings.

Black Husky and Funk Factory here in WI. Both are doing some very good stuff, the former with hops and the latter making some of the funkiest and most authentically Belgian wilds in the country, no exaggeration.

Even the stuff that's crazy infected and tastes like rancid kombucha?

Grove tasted like soap and digested my stomach lining! ;-)

Black Raven in Redmond Washington makes a killer, classic northwest IPA in Trickster that just started being bottled. They also make some great - world class IMHO - barrel aged beers in Splinters, Old Birdbrain, and Grandfather Raven.

Reuben's in Seattle makes some great uncommon, easy drinking styles - Roasted Rye, Robust Porter, a great Cream Ale, draft only options like an Altbier - and some bigger fare - Imperial Oatmeal stout, Imperial Rye IPA, a bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout. Their blimey triple IPA and crickey IPA are fantastic. Definitely a brewery to check out.

Heater Allen in McMinnville Oregon does great German styles. I'll say the same for Chuckanut in Bellingham, Washington ... and, my parents neck of the woods, Olde mecklenberg in North Carolina.

Roughtail outta Midwest City ( Tinker AFB or OKC if you will ) has Polar Night Stout & their IPA are good. Marshall's Black Dolphin Imp Stout & Coop Ale Works Territorial Reserve series. I'm sure Mother's out of Springfield, MO has many worthy offerings as well. MILF is over a 100 reviews I'm guessing, but is great. Doozy DIPA is tremendous as well...

Fremont's Kentucky Dark Star and the recently released new variants (Coffee and Spice Wars) are all some of the very best beers I've had, 10 months into my craft beer interest. It's hard to imagine big barrel-aged beers being as smooth, balanced, well-integrated, and flavorful as all three of these beers are. Every flavor you want is there, but none is overpowering or overdone. I've tried a few other world-class barrel-aged stouts (Parabola, BCBS, KBS), and I think I would choose any version of KDS over any of them. Just yesterday, I was able to try Parabajava for the first time. It was delicious, but I still thought the KDS Coffee Edition was a better beer.

Wedge brewing in Asheville (which I think is probably the best brewery in Asheville) makes an outrageously tasty raspberry imperial stout served on nitro. It's smooth as silk, and the raspberry flavor is understated but gorgeous. I hate fruit beers and I thought it was incredible.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (I've brought this beer up several times past few weeks....) I say Extra Billy's Citra Ass Down. Overall rating of 92 with 38 reviews.

For all those that aren't in the know New Jersey's Carton Brewing is rather young but becoming huge. I run a liquor store at the shore and there 077xx double IPA is becoming something like heady to get your hands on. I'll get my bi-monthly delivery on a friday to have it run out that same day with people coming from PA and NY to pick it up. 94 on BA and is getting tons of hot press. There's an article out there somewhere that compares 077 and Heady but forget where it is haha

Gonna eat my words here.....Singlecut Double Stack IPA. Best IPA I have had in ages...and I swore I would not patronize these guys because they had such lousy taste as to name another one of their IPAs after a Stone Temple Pilot member. Important lesson. Don't judge brewers by their shitty taste in music.
