Yup, walked away. There was no reason to get bottles I already have. Plus it saved me some cash

Dang, try again tomorrow! haha
Too bad for me they didn't opt for next week, but that's going to be busy as it is. Hope to remember to buy bottles tomorrow.

I'm not standing in line to buy beer. Online only for me.

I wish I could but based on the time those in front showed up (or at least rumored to have showed up) I would need to abuse phone internets to make sure I got my BA viet bottles and then somehow make it in there, buy, and then out of there just to head back to the office for on-call shenanigans.

I can wait. Maybe a random bottle share I end up at will have a bottle, otherwise it just wasn't meant to be.

Passing up on 2010 BA Decadence is a definite mistake.

Passed up only because I have 2 in cellar already. The only ones missing were BA Kopi (or would have taken regular) and 2009 bass.

I was going to pass on the Dec, but the guy doing the bottles was a good salesman and got me to pick up '10 & '11. I went in only wanting to buy 4 bottles, 2 of which were not available, and somehow walked out with 9.

Here's a question that I never know how to handle...

I bought the 9 bottles and got a couple tasters all at the same time. My total was $278. I think my actual beer pours accounted for $12 of that. What kind of tip should I have left?

Being a bartender... I would have purchased the tasters on a separate tab than the bottles, and tipped on the total of the items you drank there...

I figured it's customary to tip on pours and not on bottles. It did take some effort to fulfill my bottle order though, so I left $10.

I don't think it's necessary to tip on to-go bottles and I would imagine the vast majority of bartenders/tasting room employees don't expect it, but leaving a few extra bucks doesn't hurt and tends to build goodwill, especially if they took a few minutes to help you decide or provide information/insight.

Karma, it's a thing. Better to load yourself up with good so in case something bad happens maybe it will be lessened or others will be around to help.

I ended up grabbing one of these because the guy sold me on it, ha. I knew when I showed up at 10:35 and was about 30th in line already I was screwed for anything I REALLY wanted

Agreed. Our tab for everything (bottles, pints, shirts, etc) was $280. I left $20 to make it an even $300. Every little bit of good mojo is welcomed

    Good choice!

I don't understand all the interest in old coffee-based beers in any case.

Tickers or traders, I'm guessing. BA Kopi was phenomenal fresh, but coffee falls off enough over time that I'd rather just enjoy the newer releases than wait in line and pay a premium for something that's past its peak.

I had a Kopi just recently, and it was tasting phenomenal. I'd say fresh is better certainly... but not by magnitudes.
