Hey guys. I know it's a little early, but after reading through the official thread for this year's BCBS stuff, it seems that Missouri and Iowa (and possibly other states such as Nebraska) are not going to be getting any Vanilla Rye (per distributors and friends of distributors and for unknown reasons). I know there are those out there in WI that are friends with distributors, so I ask if there is any information out there regarding whether we, too, will be getting shafted on Vanilla? We got a fair amount of Backyard last year, but so did Missouri by all accounts. If anyone has any information or speculation, let's hear it. Thanks.

I haven't heard of us being shafted so far. The biggest thReay is that BC is going to more markets, does this effect overall supply for stores? So far not really, price though I belive is going to go up on the normal BC by maybe a buck.... I'll get more info tomorrow hopefully though...

Good to know. Please post back when you know more about anything regarding anything BCBS related. Thank you for the info!

Everything I've heard from my distributor has led me to believe it'll be business as usual.

I'm under the impression that Vanilla Rye is this years Proprietor's. It will be a Chicago only release.

This years Prop is cassia bark—basically chunks of cinnamon—cocoa nibs, coconut water and panela sugar.

Now @LambicPentameter is posting that he heard something on GI's FB that Vanilla may only be Chicagoland. Any further information that either of you (@Westuh and @chazmcbro) have heard would be great, as well as anyone else. I missed Vanilla the first time around, and whether or not Madison/Milwaukee will be receiving it will determine whether I make the insane decision to go to Chicago for the release. Thanks guys.

So we aren't seeing any Coffee, Vanilla, or Barleywine in Wisconsin or what? Source?

I have reached out to GI via their website and their Facebook page (perhaps not the best choice since it is the source of the most recent confusion). I will report back here when I learn anything, and will be calling them if they do not answer at all this week.

My sources say we get everything but Prop in Milwaukee and I am not talking about on tap. Vanilla will be a bit more limited than the coffee has been the last few times.

Along the lines of Backyard last year, I take it? Or more limited than that?

We'll see everything that we usually do every year. Coffee will be here and the Barleywine like usual, just more limited than the normal BC. The vanilla is gonna be like the Backyard, super limited.

i, selfishly, wish people would name their sources when they make definitive statements (not just this thread) about beers/releases/ingredients/prices.

seems like in many of these threads there are 11 different versions of the same beer, definitively, per the rumors floating around. everyone is convinced their guy has the right info.

maybe this requires a spreadsheet to track

If it helps you out, I have/do work for the biggest beer retailer/s in SE Wisconsin for the past 4+ years.

Based on my experiences, there is no such thing as definitive statements, unless spoken by the Brewery and/or their PR people.

Distributors are slightly better informed than retailers, and retailers are slightly better informed than well-educated consumers. But none of them can really make definitive statements.
