Thanks. I don't really know what to believe at this point, the official press release or a comment on a comment on the official Facebook page. I feel that it's likely that whoever runs their FB is not fully informed, but maybe that's wishful thinking. I'm going to reach out to GI and ask myself. I'll report back if I learn anything definitive, but I was led to believe from speaking to friends of distributors here in WI that we would see Vanilla. Lots of confusion here.

That was my thought as well, which is why I came to this thread, hoping others in the know would have the ability to confirm/deny.

It seems more likely that if a mistake is going to be made, it would be made in a one-off reply on Facebook than in an official release that presumably goes through multiple rounds of review/approval. I hope you are able to find something out.

Will anyone be going to the release at Total Wine in Ft. Meyer? I'm coming in from out of town and I'm wondering about how early I should get there.

Please be in NEPA near Scotrun. I'll be up there for Thanksgiving and I have no idea where I'll be able to get anything up that way. I will really miss being in Philly that week :slight_frown:

I just posted on their Facebook page asking for clarification about Vanilla Rye.

That vanilla rye description made my mouth water. Would love to see some if it out here in SoCal..alas, I feel it is highly unlikely.

All ABV's on BCBBW, BCBS, and BCBCS are below 14% according to the full page add on the back cover of last month's BA magazine. Please let me know if you hear any more about the release, as I will be at my in-laws in Gwinnett for the release.

So..... a few friends have gone to recent events in which they were able to try all the BCBS 2014 Variants. They all came back with the almost the same comments. Coffee tastes great. Barley Wine is fantastic. Proprietors is Awesome (maybe a little sweet) and Vanilla was a let down..... My jaw dropped each time they told me that Vanilla was their 4th choice. I talked with a few In Bev people last week and they hinted that Vanilla was not tatsing as good as the original. I'm going to an event this week and will try them all. If it's true that Vanilla is not tasting great I don't think that will hinder sales :-)

Hey, thanks dude. I wrote them a lengthy email and responded rather verbosely on Facebook and have as of yet received no response, so I'm glad this is apparently cleared up. I also heard from @Westuh that things are supposed to be business as usual here in WI. I would encourage anyone curious to contact your local distributor about what your state will be receiving. Thanks again, Lambic.

Well, posting this here because the thread that I was going to post it in got deleted, while I was typing up my response.

Considering this is how they are being released, I would gladly pay $20 for a non-existent 4-pack of Vanilla Rye. But in all seriousness, the price for the actual 4-packs vary greatly by region and even from store to store within state. I found BCBS for $15.99 on 12/30 (no limit), but initially I got it for $19.99 on 12/6 (no limit). I only bought the BCBBW the day of at $22.99 and pack-limit, because I'd tried both on tap earlier that day at Max's, and I preferred it to the bourbon bomb that is fresh BCBS. I don't have dates on when I bought the coffee, but I snagged 3 at $8 (or $6 a pop, I know places had it for $10 a pop but I'm pretty sure I didn't throw down $30 for 3 bottles). The coffee lagged a few days behind the BCBS and BW, so I missed out on a pack. The Bramble didn't hit until late January, early February. Looking back on this, I went into way too much depth, but that happens when it comes to BCBS. Hopefully, I can snag a Vanilla this year. In conclusion, I would not buy them if the price increased. It's a good beer, but for me it needs like 2 years on it before I will love it. I've only had fresh and 1-year old BCBS, so I'm slowly learning what that sweet-spot is for me.

Still can't believe KCMO got an early allocation, can't imagine that's going to bode well for next year's release of BCBS allocations to Kansas City...

Thanks for all that great info. Last year I lucked out and found four of them, liked the Barleywine and Backyard Rye the best. This year I'll want to find Vanilla and Proprietors, but not holding my breath. Still have three coffee left out of a fourpack simply because I'm too wimpy to have a coffee stout too close retiring, have no friends who are into craft (heh heh) and yet it's too high ABV to have much before bedtime and risk passing out (kidding). Bought one bottle of regular BCBS first, for $7, then found fourpacks of coffee for $20 and bought a single of the barleywine with that at another store, then Backyard Rye bombers turned up at yet another store, and it was decided to break my personal "$15 tops for any bomber" rule and drop a twenty for one. That was all in early Dec. 2013. As of February 2014 or so a fourth store still had regular BCBS by the case, and a small stack of them at that. Price point surely scares a lot of unmaniacal prospective buyers away. $20 will buy a good TWELVEpack of most brews and give you significant change back.

That's what I heard, too. As a matter of fact, I would suggest from here on out that NO ONE from any state, especially NY, purchase the Vanilla...it's just terrible.
