Thanks for the reminder, I totally forgot to post this! I'm glad the Tastykakes were in tact, not that they wouldn't still taste good squished. The chocolate ones are great frozen, that's the only way I'll eat the cupcakes.

I'll get some peanut chews into a flat rate box for you soon.

As long as we're playing this game, Someone in FL should be receiving a box from IL tomorrow...

For all of you guys shipping non-beer related items to and from Alaska, do keep in mind that USPS has the same rates on Priority Mail regardless of where you're shipping to if its in the US. Priority Mail padded envelop for $6 makes a good option

As long as we're playing this game, someone in gold ol KY should have gotten a box today as well. Two other states will be receiving boxes either week's end or early next week depending on shipping times (and when I get around to dropping boxes off) Yup, 3 boxes going to the thread this week!

This was my plan. I'm awesome at packing padded envelopes so full they barely close, then using packing tape to make sure they stay that way. I see "Flat rate shipping" the same way I see a buffet... as a challenge.

edit: and while I appreciate the thought process @Mikexw, @treznor is right; that site wants to charge $28 just for shipping to send $16 worth of candy to AK. I don't know how much 225pcs would cost compared to what they're charging, but I doubt it'd be >$38 for the candy in addition to a $6 flat rate box.

Man, drove to two local bottle shops to check for backwoods bastard and BA narwhal, neither had it -- although in talking to the one (even though I'm not a super regular, I've popped in a few times over the last two months or so and have managed to talk to the owners on two of those occasions) I found out they don't do any kind of reserves/holdings, and that they are still waiting to find out if they are even *getting* either, even though they put orders in a while back. I don't feel like stopping/calling daily, and I'm not that into getting BA narwhal (though they are listed on the SA beer finder as receiving it), but backwoods is apparently way harder to find in my area than it seems to be for most

Do these shops Instagram or facebook beers they receive?

    That would make it easier.

    Nope, unfortunately.

Huge thanks for the offer, but like I said, I'm not *too* worried about either. I've not actually had backwoods, but I'll have the opportunity to do so in mid-january (was mainly tracking it down because I'm slightly interested in it, but know some friends that absolutely LOVE it and plan on bringing some to a share, and I was going to get some of my own to bring so they could enjoy all that they get for themselves)

BA Narwhal I'm *slightly* more interested in, but a friend of mine (whom some of you may know from the SWTFYW thread....) is offering to potentially split a bottle with me as thanks if I go get some of the pizza boy releases in a few weeks since he can't make it, which I'm likely going to take up his offer.

I can get you a 4pk out of the case I bought, or if you want more my distributor had unreserved cases available yesterday, unless they ran out in 24 hours I could get you that. I would need a label/paypal for the latter.

edit: I always post before finishing catching up..... I might be getting a 2nd bottle of BA Narwhal, if I do I'll send you the whole bottle if you #pickitupforme those Pizza Boy sours

edit 2: not trying to cut Josh out, but I'm guessing/hoping that there will be some of your allotment that neither of you will be buying for yourselves.

You might be familiar with it from the other thread where there was a LIF around doing this at home: the shower beer. For me, there's something about doing it at a hotel that just feels right.

Haha, if I do any backwoods, it's just a 4 pack to try it out for sure, I definitely don't need (or really can stand to afford at the moment), an entire case. And our good buddy @jdhowe is the one who made the offer for the #pickitupforme -- although we can certainly work something out. I don't plan on picking anything up for myself, so while he gets first dibs on what I'm picking up, I can certainly get you in on the "order". Shoot me a BM if interested!

I am not sure, but Backwoods Bastard is typically very easy for me to find. I actually saw it Monday in a bottle shop (didn't buy any), and suspect it will still be available Friday (the next chance I have to get over there). I WILL be at another place tomorrow that might carry it, if anybody wants any let me know since I can check two places.

From what I've been reading (though small sample size etc given just on this site) it seems some places it's super overpriced and scarce, and other places it just sits on shelves for a while. Not sure which my area falls under, as it seems it hasn't even popped up here yet, or I'm looking in the entirely wrong places (there aren't very many actual bottle shops around me, mostly bars and distributors)

That isn't the least bit creepy. Oh and you should trim that evergreen in front of your house, starting to infringe on the pathway to your door.
