Black Friday In Texas

A whole foods, total wine and specs? I might show up just to pillage three liquor stores in close proximity.

 

Talked to the GI rep at the Brewer's Ball, and confirmed the event is at Spec's. They won't be open until 10, until which point anyone waiting will be outside.

 

Bottle share? Anyone got an RV?

 

Last year, it was just me and @WTKeene sitting in our cars waiting for them to open. Then we both immediately drove to Total Wine.

 

Sadly I think I'm gonna be stuck in MA this year, so I won't be able to join y'all in the hunt this time around.

So is this going to be a crazy 100+ people in line kind of thing? How was the event in Austin last year? I am debating driving back from OK on Thursday to be at this thing.

 

Line was pretty long in Austin, but not 100 people I don't think. I get there about 1.5 hrs before go time and I got one of the last bombers. The 4 packs of BCBS were there all day long though I think.

 

Austin wasn't super bad but yeah the bombers went fast, there was dudes in the front of the line that got there like 3 hrs before which i wouldnt recommend since i got over a bit over an hour before and got a bomber and 4 pack. Up to you tho..how bad do you want it lol!

Not quite the same as in more people or less? Vanilla Rye is the only bomber coming out in TX right? The rest is 4 packs?

 

dunno if anyone can really tell u if there is going to be more people or less than something that happened a year ago in another city. All up to you on how early your want to compromise your morning for some good beer.

 

Sorry, I was more referring to @boogercrack stating this year is not like last, and wondering if he thought that meant more neckbeards have arrived on the scene, which I think is the case, or it will be less crazy since its not the 1st time we are having black friday in TX.

 

yeah just more referencing the fact that the "scene" is evolving to a whole new animal, even year over year. i'd assume that if last year's wasn't that much of a shit show, that's no real indication as to what this years will be. i'm going into it expecting to be really pissed off at the end. or i may not even bother and do what i did last year and have cases shipped to me from places where it was plentiful.

 

If y'all want a shit show, imagine Black Friday in Houston. Last year's line started at 6 am.

Last year they had a shitload of other stuff they'd been stashing for a while like vintage Abyss, FW and Avery barrel-aged stuff, old F.U.N. series releases etc. I wonder if that will be the case this year. But of course last year they also only had regular BCBS on Black Friday and none of the variants.

 

Probably was, IIRC, if you weren't in line by 9 am you didn't get any BCBS.
