My wife is going up to visit her family in early August... I am making her check a bag so she can bring some regional stuff back with her. Anything new/seasonal releases worth searching out, or will this be a waste of time? Any suggestions appreciated (stouts and sours are preferred beers).

Not much worth bringing home from Rochester area breweries, maybe some Three Heads, because most of the better breweries are draft/growler only, and that'll be tough to lug home. But if you're in Florida, we do get a lot of breweries that won't be distro'ed to you- tell her to seek out anything Jack's Abby, New England Brewing Co, Great Lakes, Maine Beer Co, etc, etc.

Does she have places that she's going to visit to find beers? Because if you need suggestions on that front, I can help with that too.

She is going to be in the North Chili area, but has to go to Rochester Airport... any easy location suggestions for a search (she is not willing to put in too much effort, unfortunately) would be appreciated.

AJ's beer Warehouse and Beers of the World are pretty close to the airport.

Have her go to the rohrbachs brewing brewpub on buffalo rd right near north chili. They just recently started canning some if their beers. I highly recommend you have her get you 4 packs of scotch ale, vanilla porter, and railroad st IPA.

They're canning the scotch ale? Great news. That's a terrific beer.

Do they regularly have these cans for sale at the brewpub? I will be in Rochester for Labor Day weekend and am looking to pick up any good local beer recommendations to bring back down with me to NYC. Do stores carry them as well? I'm definitely going to check out AJs at some point since it seems like the best shop.

Yes they are canning all of the above beers in addition to highland amber. Cans are at buffalo rd and railroad st brewery now and will be at wegmans in the near future. I had some railroad st IPA and vanilla porter cans last week and they are tasting great. Doesn't get more local then rohrbachs

Had a quick question for all the Rochester BAs, is there anything else bottle/can wise that makes its way to you guys that I wouldn't be able to find in NYC besides the aforementioned Jack's Abby, New England Brewing Co, Great Lakes? I travel up to MA pretty frequently and was wondering if anything that I've come across there (Boulevard, CBC, Foolproof) gets distro in Rochester? I will be driving up with my gf for labor day weekend and as of now the only concrete plan is to hit up AJs and Nathaniel Corner for bottles/growlers and (hopefully) if we have time make the trip out to Abandon. Any other recommendations/tips? Thanks

How about Westbrook? Not sure if it's in the city these days.

We get Westbrook here, but thanks for the suggestion! That said, when Gose hits here it's usually gone within a couple days so if there's any sitting around up there that's definitely a plus. Their bombers sell out almost immediately as well, not sure if that's the case up there.

I've got a quick trip to Rochester coming soon and have very little free time- an hour at most & staying downtown. Looking to bring home some non-MA distributed goodies, looks like AJs and Beers of the World Brighton & Henrietta have best scores - if you could only visit one - which would it be?
    Thanks Roch area BAs!!

AJs and I don't think anyone on here will disagree.

Although, if you're staying downtown, Nathaniel Square will probably be the closest.

Thank you!!! Appreciate the local opinion. Will see if I can check out Nathaniel Square as I will be pretty close to them.

Thanks again . Made it to AJs and was impressed. Scored some non-MA distributed like Westbrook and Bells + some local NY Three Heads Kind and Too Kind. Def could have dropped massive coin esp if I could have traveled with growlers. Hopefully I get to Roch again in the future to check them out again.

Hey Rochester BA's. I will be traveling to the in-laws for thanksgiving. I saw that GI BCBS is releasing on Friday. So, is this something I can find on shelves there? I'm not going to camp out or chase trucks for it, but would make a trip to beers of the world if they have it. Also, going to go out on saturday night, where is the best place for beer AND food. I'm out by Ontario if that helps. Also, I can make the trip to beers of the world, is there somewhere else I should check out? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Were you able to figure out where to look for BCBS in the Rochester area? I'm in the same boat, staying with inlaws about 45 min east of Rochester.
