Can you provide more details when you have a chance? I like Cisco sours, but never tried Cranberry one. It still lingers around here and I was thinking about picking it up. Thanx.

Here's what I wrote. I looked at some of the more recent reviews and people have really enjoyed it, so you'll have to decide for yourself. I wasn't blown away though.

De Garde has made a Cran Bu Weisse and an Imperial Cran Bu Weisse. Both were outstanding: rich fruit character, slight tannic bite, and perfectly tart. (Beautiful color too. I had a pic of the Cran Bu on my phone for over a year. True story.)

Bridgeport Stumptown Tart and Crux Oud Freakcake have cranberries in the recipe, though they're more of a supporting role than a lead character.

Thanks. A fair review. What did you think of other Cisco Woods, if you tried any, comparing to the cranberry one?

    Cranbeery beers are AWESOME!

All of these are worth a try, and are the best-ever way to get the ladies to try fruit beers and or Craft Beer. And seriously -- why not for Macro Men, too? It's a seasonal fruit, so enjoy it in season. :grinning:

Only one I've ever had. I'm sure I'll find some in Boston and NYC when there in December. I was a big fan of their gose when it was on tap two summers ago at the brewery. That beer would go well with cranberry.

Forgot two well-known and much-loved offerings from up here:
    1. Muskoka Brewery Winter Beard Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout
    2. Yukon Brewing Deadman Creek Cranberry Wheat
(Yukon's website has a funny take on using cranberries: it's tough because Ocean Spray buys like ALL the cranberries on the planet.)

    Also…
Alley Kat Cringer Cranberry Ginger Ale
    Mission Springs Cranberry Ginger Radler
    Railway City Cranberry Festive Lager

Has anyone spotted Mikkeller Spontancranberry Lambic Ale lately?

Found a couple of six-packs of Leinenkugel's Cranberry Ginger Shandy in Napa over the holidays and it's surprisingly refreshing. It is a shandy, but they did a nice job of blending in the cranberry and ginger. Not too much of either. Great light beer for the holidays.

I like cranberries when used as a secondary/teritary flavor profile in a beer - such as a bb stout adding cranberries. As far as cranberry beers go, I haven't had one I really care for. Cran-bic was good...but I might as well drink some Ocean Spray Cranberry juice at that point.

Having only had one, and not a really well known or good one, take my opinion with some salt.

So, in a stout, fine and dandy, as part of a herbal gruit mix (which I guess the addition of ginger might be enough) or a really diverse beer sure, as just thrown into a lager though. Not cool.

To me, the Cranberry needs to compliment the beer, not take centre stage, because then it becomes "Why am I drinking this when I could just mix Cranberry Juice and Vodka and not get small, poor, hints of beer with it.

I agree that Deschutes XXVI is phenomenal. When I had it I totally missed the cranberry note, but I tasted it as the 5th course of a Deschutes beer dinner at the Brew Kettle in Strongsville, Ohio. Some subtleties were definitely beyond me at that point, but I am sure XXVI is an incredible beer! I'll look for the cranberries when I crack open a bottle that I have.
