Ah okay. I definitely bought enough at one place to make some waves. but I guess that wasn't enough

There've been a lot of rumors about what is and isn't making it out of Illinois. All my sources say that it's business as usual, meaning everything but Prop will see distribution, though in light of the above comment I guess it's dependent on how much generic GI bullshit your area buys. Pretty lame if you ask me. This may be the last year I can avoid driving to Chicago for this nonsense.

I'm pretty sure this is also how Founders decides KBS allocations, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear it is how many other breweries do. I think it's pretty shitty business practice, myself, but I really don't know if I can find a better way to determine where a certain brewery's beer seems to be popular. The issue is that limited releases like these will be popular almost wherever they're released, so it's far from a perfect or fair system.

Living in Oregon you should have no problem trading for them, but also living in Oregon, I'm sure Goose Island basics don't sell well with all that great beer, so you likely won't see much BCBS or many variants.

SOOOO MUCH BS. I think everybody has to accept that no one (including shop owners, distributors, high ranking BAs, and GI reps) will have any real info until the beer is available for sale.

The only rumors that are 100% true are that the 2014 Vanilla is infected and tastes like raw sewage+burnt hair and that AB-InBev has double to tripled prices on BCBS+variant since last year. I would recommend staying home with the family.

Any idea when BCBs will be on the shelf in the Boston area and RI?

Black Friday almost certainly. This is AB-InBev, they have the capacity to get it nationwide simultaneously. Ask your local shops/distributors to be sure, however.

Different being that Founder's regular lineup is actually worth buying.

We had a ton of Reg and Backyard on the shelf here in Bend for a couple months. Coffee came and went super quick.

No argument here, but I think it's still shitty business, regardless of how good or mediocre the beer is. Sofie and Matilda are both worth buying, though, if they count.

Hopefully things stay this way for you then, because if the above comments are any indication, things changed this year in that your BCBS allocations are directly proportionate to how much quantity GI regulars your area sold.

Worst case scenario I will be ISO at a case at a time.

This is inaccurate. I work for a distributor in Eastern KY and we have already received our shipment of BCBS, Barleywine, and Coffee. From the allocation info I was sent, no bombers of Vanilla will make it into the state.

I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I'm also not sure it's accurate that Founder's actually does this. All their stuff sells like crazy around here, and yet we still see 1 bottle limits come KBS-time across the board. Even Backwoods is usually harder to get here than in many states, where apparently you can buy cases of it, which no stores allow around here due to limited supply.

On the flipside, I heard from reps that this WAS how AB-IB/GI did allocations last year, so this wouldn't actually represent a change.

If they are going to base it solely on the proportion of other GI products are sold then at least around my neighborhood regular grocery stores will be receiving BCBS by the truckload which will not be the case.

That's the part of it that I find strange too. The people who buy 312 and the people who buy $8 bottles of BCBS are COMPLETELY different groups. To allocate the latter based on the former makes no sense, and essentially just benefits BAs who happen to live near lots of "entry-level" craft enthusiasts.

It's like allocating Pappy van Winkle based on how much Five O'Clock you sell.

You're kidding! I paid 19.99/4 pack last year, and figured to get 5 at that price this year. If they increase the price by 35%, I'm out. I can get a lot of other great beer for the $100.00 I was going to give them!

A 35% increase is abusive, IMHO.

Take a look in the US Great Lakes forum the beer guy from Binny's Lincoln Park confirmed the price change. he also gave reasons I can't remember.
