VBS--Virtual Bottle Share. Not sure on the rounds

 

The VBS is our own little version of what beer are you drinking now.

 

I believe we just completed round three. Rounds 1 and 3 were full rounds and round 2 was a summer sixer.

 

Round 3 just completed, rounds 1 and 3 were "full" BIF rounds with pretty ridiculous sized boxes; round 2 (and likely round 4) was a smaller "Summer Sixer" round, intentionally much smaller to keep things moving without taxing wallets too heavily.

We also have an ongoing "Sixterhood" which is a Traditional BIF, where there is a single box for the entire BIF, and participants take turns receiving and then sending out said box. This, however, does not have a round number associated with it.

There also is the concept of a LICC ME, where someone suggests they are looking to get rid of or acquire some bottles, and someone else joins up with them. Essentially an impromptu BIFs between only 2 people; or put another way, a trade without defined terms. Again, no round number associated.

I can only think of a couple -- Pipeworks and Treehouse -- part of that is because NY/NJ has pretty good distribution and I'm not that far from Vermont and Massachusetts; part is because since joining The Locals, I have received (either via normal BIF or trade) beer from pretty much everybody else I might have listed (Surly, New Glarus, Toppling Goliath, Deschutes, Jester King, Wicked Weed, 3 Floyds, Hill Farmstead....) And a lot of times the way I decide what other beers I want is because I liked something from that brewery in the past anyway.

 

I got adventurous. Excuse the non beer post, but at least its from a brewery

Your picture of Lusus Naturae ended up being much better than mine from a night or two ago. What'd you think?

 

I was at the first session, the only thing i didn't get was the BW…. But i hit up the GI line 10-15 times, line was moving very fast and they never took tickets, in fact they didn't take tickets anywhere it was great. I meet 5 head brewers got some bad ass swag from them too. Big news coming from Founders in the next week. Met up with tons of FIB BA's, was a great time. The after party moved to my house till 3am, my sat was a recovery day, so i feel your pain.

 

I was wondering where you were all weekend I've also always wondered if mods on here get any kind of special treatment, or if they are 'known' in the beer world (I'm sure the bros are, but how about guys like you?)

 

well i really don't go out of my way to say who i really am, but people I'm with always say this is blue-dream, after that "doors" open up.

 

That's pretty awesome.

 

Upland, jester King, Wicked Weed, Hill Farmstead, Pizza Boy, Revolution, Pipeworks, Alesmith, 3 Floyds, Almanac, would be the main ones from my want list.

No VBS for me either. I've also got a box being dropped off today from a trade. 11 degrees with -2 windchill... Now I have to come up with an excuse to leave the hospital for a few...
