Black Friday In Texas

Not trying to call out. Just don't want people to be discouraged. This year I won't be making the trip. I'll be on a Caribbean cruise and won't really be thinking too much about chasing beer.

 

No worries at all. I would rather be corrected than give out false info.

 

I watched the line at Smith Street closely last year, and @StArnoldFan is correct. If you were in line at 10AM, you got some. It took 20-30 minutes to service the line, and there were stragglers "in line" who got there at 10:15 or whatever that missed out, but if you were there at 10AM, you got your allocation.

 

I might actually try to go this year.

 

Has anyone heard any more information about the Wednesday event? I've been to Goodfriend before where it's assumed to be happening but it's a bar and didn't know if they would be selling bottles there or only draft.

 

I'm sure the Mule Train will be rollin' that day.

 

Yeah, the Downtown Specs last year was awful. Ill never do that again for sure. Luckily i will be in Austin this time. Should be able to find a place or two that'll have it.

 

As it should be. How else could you get more than one bottle of Vanilla?

 

I'll ask a few people and let you know what I find out. Nothing at Goodfriend will be to go, but they regularly sell bottles for on premise consumption. So, it is likely that they will have a little bit of everything. It seems like GI is trying to make sure that the specific events have a reasonable amount of each beer.

 

Alright, thanks man. On the goose island website, it makes it sound like it would be like bottle purchases to go which I doubt.

 

Ah, so the Wed event is at Goodfriend? Is that in stone or is it possible it's at a store somewhere? I've emailed GI to see if they could be a little more specific than "the corner of..." Ridiculous.

I'll be visiting family in Austin for thanksgiving. Any chance someone could advise where releases might be happening on black Friday? Also, how crazy the lines usually are as I'm not trying to blow half a day waiting in line instead of spending with family. Thanks

 

That was my deal last year. We just decided to go to Jester King instead. I still managed to grab a few packs of BCBS and 1 of BCBCS either that afternoon

 

If you don't mind me asking, where did you go to get the bcbs? Jester king trip is already in the works and my sister lives on that side of Austin so I'd like to find a bottle shop nearby if possible

 

whole foods should have some, last year they sold 4 packs...pretty much everyone else sold 1 bottle per

 

This Specs Got there mid afternoon, 1 4 pack per person I think (my wife was with me so I think we got 2

Whole Foods flagship store downtown was the best bets last year. A lot of places broke up and sold singles, but they didn't. Unfortunately, its not near JK, but JK doesn't open until 4 (unless they open early that day) so you should be able to grab some beers in the morning, then enjoy JK all afternoon.

The other options were outlying grocery stores (I know of someone who walked into a store and bought a whole case of BCBS) but there is no way to know if these will get it Friday or a few days later.
