Anyone else love Kvass?

I gave up trying to find this style a few years ago. I googled Russian food store and I found one in Indianapolis! They have a website and they have different varieties of kvass listed! Looks like a road trip is in order! Thanks again!

I don't consider it a beer either but as long as it's on this website, I might as well try it.

 

Avoid any "kvass" that comes in plastic bottles. Look for a homemade Russian recipes. Not sure how authentic it is from any brewery.

 

Your decimal point's in the wrong place there - it's "Non-alcoholic - less than 0.5% alcohol by volume (pg 1-7)" i.e., "less than ½ of 1%" the same as it was during National Prohibition.

When I used to live down in Pennsylvania I had one from Beaver Brewing pretty often. I recall it being good, bready but light. The head brewer there even wrote a book on the stuff.

 

Not really. It shouldn't really be a style listed on BA in my opinion (along with Happoshu).

 

I have yet to try a Kvass, but my best buddy from the Ukraine drank it in his youth and I have committed to brewing a batch at some point.

 

Anyone know which kvass is served at Puzata Hata by chance? I had a few sips and couldn't finish my glass. Didn't realize I missed a tick!

 

Alaskan made a Kvass with Brew Dogs this past fall. It was fun to try, but I can't say I got too excited about it.

I had some while walking the streets of St. Petersburg last summer. Very enjoyable and refreshing on a warm day after a few hours of sight seeing.
