I see from a Grapevine facebook post they have Big Eye; all anybody ever talks about is Sculpin, but I see Big Eye has a 91 rating on this site, 95 from the brothers. Is it around the same price, or less than Sculpin?

Its $9.99 and I think it is pretty good. Obviously a little different than Sculpin but I like it.

One that really flies under the radar is Calico. It's an amber, but it's an amber in the tradition of Odell and Marble Red rather than Avalanche and the like.

Was just gonna say something similar; I really though Calico was a top notch amber.

I picked up a bomber of Victory at Sea yesterday, will probably try it out this weekend. Hell, I'm gonna be trying out all kinds of beer this weekend in preparation for a whole month with no beer!

Are you referring to Odell Levity Amber Ale or Odell Runoff Red IPA (formerly just Odell Red)? I am assuming the latter given the Marble comparison.

I forgot they renamed it, but it's the old Odell Red (Runoff). A very hoppy amber/red that can keep up with most IPA's. I really enjoy those, although I like the malty ones, too.

Speaking of which, @dauss informed me on Friday that Comrade is gonna do a Red IPA in the tradition of Odell (Runoff) Red. Very very very excited to taste that, I love that Runoff Red.

As a transportation/logistics guy, I'm surprised they decided to send bottles. At the very least, bottles are heavier, also subject to breakage, etc.

Anyone in the beer world know why craft breweries that have both bottled and canned versions tend to send the bottled ones to secondary/out-of-state markets? Avery does this as well, it seems. Just the remnants of "good beer comes in bottles, not cans" stigmas?

A minor gripe at best, glad to have Sculpin here, saw it today @ Lukas, but dissapointed since I was stocking the elk camp cooler and didn't want to put bottles in there, so stuck with the basic Modus/Dry Dock/Dales/Rudie/Fidy.

^^^ I am curious about that myself.

I am also curious why a retailer with tons of cooler space would relegate all the Ballast Point to a stack in the corner with NONE cold.

New batch of Sculpin arrived, bottled Oct. 14th. Tastes amazing.

I have searched all over the bottles and cases and can't find a bottled date anywhere! Where are you finding the date?

Thanks for the tip. Almost picked this up yesterday and thought to myself "I'm in the mood for something a little hoppier".

Picked up Big Eye instead, which I actually prefer to Sculpin.
