Well clearly I wasn't condoning threats/dickheadedness; I'm not at all caught up on that thread, so if that outweighed any constructive/positive conversation so much, I understand the need to restrict conversation to 0 rather than just be more picky about what goes and what doesn't. I'm still not quire sure I understand the purpose in a new thread vs continuing the old one, given that in either case a heavier mod presence would ensure the dickheadedness would cease. Was it just for the sake of a "fresh start"? Perhaps I'm overly sentimental, but personally, I find continuing the old with increased security to be the better option, but obviously it was nowhere near my call, so I'll just leave it as my unsolicited .02.

I've been guilty of this before, but I always try make sure that I am constructive and make suggestions; and I only say it in situations that are ludicrously far off, or show a general misunderstanding of how trades get done (like "ISO BVDL, FT case of Sculpin"); often it's first-timers that are trying to get into the trade game but are shooting too high for a first trade

 

But if people can't/are too lazy to do any research, that's what they deserve.

 

It may eventually come to that. Just not yet.

Honest question, for which side? If the guy who owns DBH would rather have some loons, he'd be getting a very good $ value on the deal, and some bottles that aren't too easy to come by; if the guy getting the DBH, particularly if it's someone overseas, has the loons to give, they might be overspending $-wise, but they're getting a bottle they would not normally get for "lower level" bottles. I thought it was a pretty good deal, particularly given that the trade partner is likely to be international

 

i never comment in there, and it is for this reason and this reason only: i am 100% ignorant to value trading and i have no idea what shit goes for, nor do i care. i can honestly say i always try and do $4$ because i find value trading to be a bit unfair. just because someone has easier access and/or means to a "rare" beer that someone else doesnt. now, i get it and understand why people do that (waited in long lines, travelled a long ways, etc), so dont want to alienate others in the group since i know some people in here are more in tune with value and value trading, but it just isnt for me. if i paid $20-30 for a beer, i dont see how i can expect $100 worth of beer in return. love you all, value traders or not .

Really though, the couple times I've done it I don't even use the same vocabulary, but I understand it's in essence doing the same thing; but I genuinely try to help the person find a deal that will get done, not just bash on someone for the sake of feeling like the smarter guy in the room.

Also, I hope my addition to today's isoft thread wasn't out of line.

 

I'm particularly talking if done in the US.

 

95% of the time I'm right there with you on this; and the way I do it is that I ASK $4$ when I have something rarer (if I'm willing to give it up in the first place, I don't need more than I paid for it back), but I know that to get something rarer, I may need to OFFER more. That is, when I can't get it from this or another BIF thread/trading partner/friend on the site... which is almost never, thus the 95%

 

Oh yeah, any US trader with those loons would be nuts to give all 3 of those up, maybe 2; but that's why I'm glad one of the NL guys is already on it, as long as the OP is ok doing an international trade he'll get exactly what he's looking for and both sides will be very happy. I also have spoken with MikeReserva before, great guy.

 

Disagree that if both parties are happy that someone else should tell them they're wrong?
