I do not see bottle dates on my bottles. Sunrise still had some as of 30 minutes ago.

...and gone as of 11am-ish yesterday. Keg blew about 8oz into my second growler. Dude in line behind me was extremely butt hurt. "Wah wah wahh" as he stormed out and slammed the door...a grown man, I remind you.

So the bottle that I bought from HEB was pretty good. Wasn't the best YR I've had but still happy to just see it here. Hopefully things ramp up and we can get some bottle dating and fresh bottles.

Bottles of 667 made it to stores quicker than YR so I'm positive fresher bottles will be showing up on shelves.

That's really weird since I got a fill last night at around 5:30. They got three kegs so I'm thinking had he stuck around he could've gotten what he wanted.

First keg was almost gone Friday. A line to the door, I kid you not.

They have more. Just tapped one according to the site.

So, this beer seems to lose it's amazingly juicy, pungent, and "popping" grapefruit property fairly quickly. Both on the nose and taste. I can't recall a beer that's given me such varying impressions seemingly each time I've ordered it - by the glass or growler.

I purchased a growler last week (Friday) and thought it was the best "version" of yellow rose I've ever had. It had been a month or so since I last had it and my initial thought was, "no wonder I loved this beer along with everyone else." It was incredibly juicy and balanced. The GF agreed and was thoroughly impressed.

Fast forward to today: same filling spot as last week - I purchased two growlers worth. While still a very good IPA, the qualities that blew me away a week ago were very much subdued. Didn't seem as pungently and pleasingly aromatic. It seemed almost flat on both the nose and taste. Not as well balanced either, with much more bitterness on the back end and lingering on.

Posting to ask, has this been anyone else's experience? I do know this: my fill last week was from a freshly tapped keg...the fills today came from a keg tapped a few days ago. I know this due to the locations digital menu. Hard to believe that something as trivial as freshness of keg could have such an impact on a beer. This has not been common with other brews, IPA or otherwise, in my experience.

Does yellow rose fall of very quickly? Do batches seem to vary? Sorry for the long post...I'm a bit buzzed off of the YR right now:sunglasses:. I'm simply a bit perplexed.

Ive only had it once, on tap, and this was my thought on the beer. I didnt get what the hype was at all. Subdued is a great word for what I thought of it. I love IPA/DIPAs. Looking forward to trying it again, on tap and bottle.

I've noticed there is a difference at times. The last few pours I've had from kegs in Houston it's tasted better than ever, but sometimes I've noticed it tastes different than I last remembered. It's always been good, but it usually tastes great. That could be me (likely) or the fact that a very small brewery is producing a small batch beer (relatively speaking) that leads to some variation. And to be honest, that beer is so damn good that the slight risk it won't taste as good as the last time is completely worth it. I'll order it at a bar almost every time I see it's on draft. That beer at its best is better than most IPAs I've ever tried.

Ok...I've noticed that as well, 161 pints and counting. Each batch is different and that is to be expected. Even though the same ingredients are used, they may impart a different taste/aroma whenever they are brewed. I like that about YR, cuz when I get a great batch of YR, like tonight, where it's super fruity, it makes me swoon. I like the variousness of YR batches. Not everything tastes the same each time. When you get that super fruity, grapefruit batch...it'll take you to heaven. That's something Community Mosaic can't deliver.

Yup, its that Mosaic. @TxUltraRunner, would you agree that the most recent variations have been the most far a part and have come since they started bottling? I've since stopped getting weekly to bi-weekly growler fills of YR because I'm tired of drinking below avg YR.

Hops of the same variety can also vary due to environmental conditions.

there's a ton of variation on this beer. two weekends ago i got a pint and two growlers from.... growlers and the keg blew between the two growler fills.. there was a very distinct difference between the pint i had from the first, and the growler from the second i drank later that night. (first one went out as a trade extra). aggressively hop bursted beers can vary wildly. won't stop me from buying it constantly.

*edit: also, just because a keg is freshly tapped doesn't mean anything regarding the freshness of the keg. not implying anything about my story above, i'm pretty sure growlers for instance does a great job of keg inventory. however, i do know other places that have been known to sit on ipa kegs for some unknown reason. HOWEVER AGAIN, kegs will retain freshness far better than any bottle (and idk about cans).

My YR growlers I just got at LG were amazingly fruity.

Which growler you use? How long till you drink it?

    That's cute.

And now that my four months away from Houston ends tonight, expect me to pick up the pace.

(To stay on topic a bit: yes, YR varies from batch to batch - the good batches are amazing, the "bad" batches are still great, IMO. The fruitiness can be more subdued but still influence what I think is an absolutely wonderful beer.)
