Can breweries/distributors stop choosing Quickie Pickie for these releases? It is a tiny place that charges too much and just is not a good release location.

I will probably try to get the vanilla, other than that, I doubt I hunt this down.

Off topic I know, but anyone know if this will hit on black Friday in OKC? I'll be up there with family and won't be able to make it back to Dallas until late that day and I'm sure everything will be gone by then.

Goose Island Brewing (Chicago, IL ) preparing for the 2014 round of Bourbon County offerings. This year will see the release of a previous offering (or, at least a bit of a rendition of) Bourbon County Vanilla- Goose Island Bourbon County Vanilla Rye......

BCBS will hit Oklahoma this year. Not sure how much or where but I suspect it will be MUCH easier to get than limited Prairie releases. Plus, the casual drinker is less likely to recognize BCBS than Prairie in Oklahoma. Stores in Norman may be a safer bet to score a lot of BCBS.

Have you heard any whispers if it will hit on Black Friday? I was hoping to stop by Cellar Wine & Spirits on Main in Norman. But I leave pretty around lunch to come back to Dallas, so if its not there then I will miss it in OK and Dallas haha.

I really haven't the foggiest idea. If past experience is any indicator (only using Prairie releases as a guide), Norman gets their beer between 10-11am on release days but in limited quantities. There's a handful of distributors and they each delivery on different days/ times. There's a good chance there will be BCBS in Norman at 10am on Friday. Where? The Cellar/ Spirit Shop is as good as guess as mine.

I know this is crazy talk and all, but have you thought about calling them to ask if they will be having it? Crazy thought, I know.

They don't know. I've talked with liquor store owners in person about this. Oklahoma liquor stores know a beer is coming, they don't know when. Fred's Blend dropped over a 3 day stretch with some stores getting one case the first day, 3 the second and 1 the third. Sometimes it all comes at once. Sometimes it comes at 9:00am, sometimes it comes at 3:00pm.

I can call and ask all I want but the answer remains the same.

Surprised that we have no word about this release in Houston or Austin outside of that Quickie Pickie event.

So from what I understand from talking to my beer guys, Vanilla Rye will only be at these special release events. Does that jive with what everyone else has heard?

IIRC, Backyard Rye was released in Austin several months after the "special release events" at random locations. It's all up to the distributor.

I think that was due to some large errors in distributing actually. From what I gather, it will be a unified Black Friday release...where VR will only be at the events. SUCK! Oh well, I'll just trade for it.

while i'd be surprised if that was the case, i wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
