Not a new beer, but a new format here. Below is the label for the upcoming release of Ballast Point's popular Grapefruit Sculpin in a 12oz can format. This would make a wonderful beach beer for sure. No word on when they plan on releasing the cans.

"Right before I walk into my local" would be a good time.

I would buy this. With Habanero Sculpin, the heat detracted from a very good beer. With Grapefruit Sculpin, the grapefruit ENHANCED a very good beer.

This thread is relevant to my interests.

Side note: is Grapefruit a seasonal, or is it year-round?

Did anyone else think that Grapefruit Sculpin was too shandy-ish for an ipa?

My understanding is that it was a one-off that they might make again if it was liked. Clearly, it was liked!

It started out as a one off but it's labelled as a "rotating" on the page. It's very easy to find around here. Lots of it.

I like Habanero. It's good to have a few ounces of but I wouldn't buy it in bottles.

No. The Grapefruit is pretty subtle IMO.

Had it a few times, even managed to snag a sixer when I was recently in San Diego. Awesome IPA that I really hope we start to see in AZ soon!

This + Habanero in cans would dominate my mini fridge.

Not at all. I didn't think it tasted anything remotely like a shandy. It wasn't sweet. I thought it tasted like a super-juicy IPA.

Well, I don't think it was a one-off, since it was added to BA back in January 2013 and I know for a fact they did a batch (or more) this year. The reason I asked is because I got bottles of it back in August, but I've still seen it around in solid quantities on various online retailers' sites. I wanted to know if the stuff I was still seeing was new or still part of the same batch that they must've made back in July/August.

Do you know if the stuff you're seeing now is still from that August-ish batch? Or is it new?
