It's funny how what I look for in an IPA has changed over time. First I looked at IBU, then ABV, and now it's hop varieties.

Forgot about Enjoy By...since I only had it once, I didn't realize it was 9.4% ABV

Boneyard Notorious. They call it a triple IPA but that's a fake category IMHO.

Barley Brown's Tank Slapper is also excellent. (Their one off Fresh Hop Hop Truck Crossing was incredible but doesn't seem right to name a beer that was one and done.)

I am not quite sure if I had an infected bottle of Majahara, but it was terrible. To be fair, I tried it after DFH 90. I am going to give it another shot on its own. Too much over ripe fruit. Way over the top....

I think that's probably normal as one's palate develops. Knowing the hop bill is definitely more descriptive than either ABV or IBU, though I think they are still good to know before buying. Hop flavors do change depending on ABV, quite possibly IBU too (may act as a magnet for the aroma flavors/beta acids). Amarillo in particular tastes pretty different to me at 10% than it does at 7%, much more sour. Cheers!
