The other night, I was wondering if anyone has ever put beer in a bank safety deposit box. Depending on where you live, the temperature is probably consistent and it would definitely keep you from drinking it.

Are there any beers in a famous time capsule or even just someone's personal time capsule?

I know that there is always the whole DFH Olde School Barleywine, where it says that you should bury it. Anybody use a backhoe to bury some?

Feel free to add accidental cellaring stories, or ridiculous news stories about found beer.

I found some cave-aged MGD while backpacking the panhandle of Idaho once. Didn't want the shits while on the trail just in case, so I took 2 cans back with me. Found out through here they were something like 8 years old from their can code. Opened one and it was remarkably like a gose- salty, tart with lemon zest, an actual improvement over the fresh version. The second can was promptly drank with little ceremony and now I wish I could remember where we found those.

Funny you mention this. My brother and I plan on doing this this weekend with said beer. We saved 2 bottles, probably gonna put them in some pvc and cap the ends, and bury (with a shovel). It's bound to become our new Thankgiving tradition, dig em up and replace with a new beer each year.

Would be worth considering for some of my older super rare beers.

I did a Bigfoot experiment. Took two bottles from my cellar, one was perfect cellar conditions for 3 years the other got the fucked up treatment, days in the sun, exposure to direct heat, temperure changes, days and nights on the porch. Brought both to a tasting, the fucked-up-version was better in my opinion, it had more age and less hop flavor but it had that fantastic American Quad(the term I use to describe hopped up BW with age) profile of a great aged hopped-up-BW

i say bury it with you in your coffin, dig it up later for your friends to enjoy. 8 ft under has to be a pretty consistent temp
