You buy beer and use it toward points. A six pack or bomber are one point and you can use it for any brewery you want, doesn't have to be just the brewery you bought the beer from. It rewards people that buy a lot of beer because you can use points right before a big release and be guaranteed that release.

Ah, I see. So I've gotten lucky and probably stopped in well after said releases, and they figure beer club folks have already gotten theirs.

They don't do it for every release. Just some of the biggest ones.

Ever since Alpine forced customers to buy a bottle of Dorothy in order to get Sue, I've not returned.

I don't care if you can't sell a certain beer. Its not my fucking responsibility to help control their inventory.

It just gets frustrating sometimes. I just have to remind myself that I have access to great beers from O'so and Central Waters.

Wow- didn't know they did that. Not a fan of that method, especially for beer that is now pretty common.

It's not the customer's fault they bought too much Dorothy... Although I wonder if TG has a "Dorothy requirement" for shops, ie. for every case of Sue you have to buy either GN or Dorothy too.

They did it this past Spring. I believe they got so much flack that they stopped.

I'm not sure if TG has any type of requirements, but either way, its a style I have zero interest in.
Had I jumped through that hoop, the bottle of Sue would've ended up costing $15 as the Dorothy wouldn't have got drank.

I've heard that with Ommegang they require so many cases of their regular beer to be purchased by a liquor store before they are alotted a case of their specialty beers which is why so many stores require customers to purchase a qty of their regular beer before you can by a bottle of Game of Thrones beer. My line of thinking is that if you are making good beer you don't need to make requirements such as this as customers will buy it on their own.

It's true for ommegang. In Green Bay the requirement was 2 4 packs to be able to buy each GoT beer when they came out. Don't need to try those beers with that prerequisite....
