Wonder why CCB ditched cans for bombers recently?

I was hoping puppy's breath made it to 6pk cans again.

I think I grabbed a 6pk for $10.99 last time around. Now they bottled it in 22oz bombers (just like they did with Jose Marti) and are now charging $7 for that.

    $10.99 for 72oz of beer
    $7 for 22oz of beer

Here's to hoping they don't go this route with the White Oak Jai Alai.

For sure. Was secretly hoping for someone to provide source or quote about how CCB got an extra few tuckloads of 22oz bottles and needs to use them up or they'll have to use them for Huna next year.

With the torrent of great beer available to us in FL, and with more local breweries every month, I will no longer be purchasing puppy's breath or marti since they are in bombers. If white oak follows suit, I will no longer purchase that. I am pretty much done with bomber purchases unless it's a very special release, as the price per oz is just absurd.

Well I won't be anymore. I'll be surprised if I'm in the minority.

That calendar has all sorts of old info - for instance, according to it White Oak is year round. And most every 750mL bottle listed ended up being 22's.

Not saying it won't be canned, but they've already released the bombers...doubt they'd do both.

I don't seem them simultaneously releasing bombers and cans. The bombers are out already for this batch. If it sits on shelves, they may go back to cans for the next batch. Who knows.

I enjoyed Puppy's Breath in 6 packs. I won't pay $7 for less than 2 cans when I was getting 6 cans for $11 before. Price per ounce just went from 15 cents to 31 cents. More than a 100% price increase. I'm sure some people will buy it though.

I can live without puppy's breath but the Jose Marti change really sucks. That was one of my favorite beers from ccb and I haven't bought a single bottle since the switch.

Looks like they traded a bit then, Sugar Plum is in cans now too, instead. They upped the ABV on a few of these beers, as well, and changed some artwork.

So far I haven't cared because I don't care for either of these too much...but if White Oak follows suit, I may riot.

There is also no proof that there is "more" of it. Most of my local stores only got 1 or 2 cases. So less beer total overall

Vote with your wallets. Puppy's Breath isn't a good enough beer to warrant bomber prices. Founders porter is better and cheaper.

I hope Cubano (ka-boom) Espresso doesn't get the same bomber thing. Puppy had a problem as well. Anyone think this is related to the change?

i grabbed 2 of these saturday while at CCB. mainly b/c my wife loves the label and i may never actually drink it. the 2nd one did a LIF in my beer group with a crowler of dark woods. i asked the guy stocking the PBP if they would come out in 6 packs again, and he said he didnt know. the only bombers i will buy from CCB is MZ, BA big sound if it ever went to bombers, and Huna. at least we are guaranteed 750's being el catador!

Yeah, I was gonna mention the exploding cans and the generally profit focused business model of CCB (not saying it's wrong of them, but I've definitely bought less Cigar City beers with all the format changes and price increases.)

I figure the average customer has 'hype-blinders' on and doesn't even pay attention to format size or price. They just want to try the beer.

It is safe to assume that those of us posting on a forum devoted to craft beer advocacy are also those making more informed decisions when it comes to our beer purchases.

CCB has disappeared around here after being pretty regularly available. I assume because they have grown in demand so much they decided to better support their core distribution area. The beer is really good, and if demand is what it appears to be....they should raise prices to meet the demand. However, I have no interest in more high priced bombers from them or anyone else. It is a great revenue producer, so it makes sense for them to make them....it is just a crappy deal in my opinion for me, so I won't be buying them anymore on a regular basis.
