IF any one from out of state wants a bottle hit me up for a trade. Got a case and ad a bottle the last 2 nights and it was tasty. Cheers

I think this debate happens each year for Silent Night. I'm in the camp of believing that $16-$19 for a corked and caged 750ml of a BA stout is not out there. The only thing really separating it from others that are packaged in smaller bottles for the same or higher price is that people don't fawn all over it, and I am OK with that because like you said it is not terribly hard to find!

I can't wait to try this year's. I love the beer and love the theme/packaging. One year I have to make it to Mother Earth for the release.

I agree...just saying that's why it sits on the shelf. Glad for myself that it does.

Already seen it in distribution in Hickory (today). Didn't pick one up as I picked up a pair of Old School's instead, but this thread is already making me regret that and hoping its there tomorrow...

Hit Raleigh today. I'm pretty sure it will last until tomorrow.

These lasted at least a few weeks in Charlotte last year. I was very happy about that, because I think this is a nice BA coffee stout. I don't mind the price for C&C 750. They use good ingredients, and it shows through in the finished product.

It definitely lasted a few weeks if not longer in Hickory last year.

Yeah, I remembered that from last year which is why I didn't pick it up. But there were also a pretty good number of them gone last night already, which I was a bit surprised at. It's not like it takes a lot of work to get my back into Hops & Grapes anyway, so I'm sure I'll be there tonight to pick one up

Agreed that Silent Night does great from a marketing standpoint. Name, bottle, label etc. look great. The brew is done well but not the best BA stout IMO (I actually just polished off my 2013 bottle a few weeks ago--FYI). But I see what others are saying about the steep price point. So let's create a scenario from 2 beers of this list by the OP:

Imagine walking into a store with a bottle of SN ($20) and a 4-pack of KBS ($22-$25) sitting on the shelf. If you had to pick one? KBS all day for me. So yes, I can see the argument on the steep price point.

I'll definitely buy a bottle (mainly due to the packaging and stuff as mentioned above, the wife loves it) and I'm sure I'll have it on tap a few times here and there. But I would likely buy more bottles if it were say, more in the $15 range. That's what Lindley Park and Event Horizon run, right? Closer to $15. Even though it's only a $5 difference, that's kind of the line where I start to really wonder if my money is being spent wisely. Especially when there are better NC stouts being released around the exact same time that costs less.

I also honestly did not know this was a coffee stout.

Lindley Park was $15 in Hickory, $17-$18 in a lot of the rest of the state I believe. I'd probably rather have Silent Night than Lindley Park, though I'd far rather have Event Horizon than either. Silent Night is a solid once a year kind of beer for me. Though I agree that I'd much rather see it at the $15 price point. But if $20 is what they need to do for it to work for them, I'd rather see it made at a $20 than not made at the $15.

And I'm not certain I'd call it a coffee stout so much as a stout with a little coffee in it. It's got a decent amount of other stuff going on and the coffee is not the main focus I'd say.

I've been all across this state and have never seen LP for that price. Always under $15.

I know people were saying Appalachian Vintners (in Asheville) was at $17 and I thought people in Raleigh had said the same thing. Don't know that it really changes my point though.

So it's heresay. I wouldn't hang my hat on that. I don't know what asheville sells it for but I can guarantee from Durham to the Twin Cities its under $15.

And I agree with your point. Would much rather have EH. Just verifying the price.

For what it's worth, Lindley Park and Event Horizon are 22 oz bottles and Silent Night is 750 ml so you get slightly more beer with Silent Night.

Very true, and certainly worth pointing out.

And when you say under $15 you mean $14.99? Because that is pretty much the standard price I have seen in every store I go to that has it, which not all stores have it anyway. I do think that the Silent Night is a 750 ml bottle. Which might make up for the extra $5, if that is what it is this year. Although that is only about 4 oz more beer for $5 difference.

    $13.99-$14.99.

I did see that TW had it for $13.99, but the closest one is two hours away from me, so the extra savings doesn't matter anyway. Now if I lived in RD or Triad then I would take advantage. Because that is a damn fine beer and that is a steal!
