I have a friend who is coming out to IL for thanksgiving this year. He expressed interest in Dave brewfarm. I did some searching and cant find any information about what beers are on tap and even saw a post somewhere that said that Dave Brewfarm is for sale.

Can any one give me some information about what is going on? I have found social media site that say he will be open on Friday, but it does not say what beers are going to be pouring. Kind of hard to find any information about if this place is still even open anymore.

Would appreciate any helpful you can provide! Cheers!

My experience is the beers are just whatever he has on at the time - there is usually pretty good variety and quite a few beers (given how small an operation it is). You can get growlers of stuff he doesn't have on. The growlers are pressure treated so they last a while. There are usually a bunch of dogs there and people sitting around drinking beers. If it isn't too cold you can wander around the farm with your beers, it is quite beautiful and very unique.

It is about a 5 hour, 45 minute drive from Chicago, I'd say. My wife's folks live just around the bend, and I'll be bringing back my growlers for what could be one final refill on Friday so that i can dry my BCBS FOMO tears with WI goodness. If you're thinking of coming up Saturday or Sunday, BM me and I can send you a list of what's on Friday.

The first rule of the BrewFarm is we don't talk about the BrewFarm...

I know it's counter to today's "everything is online" social media, but probably not until Thursday will I know what we'll be pouring on Friday. Those who have been here know that's the way we roll around here - it's not arrogance, it's the way a one-man brewery operation works.

Yes, the BrewFarm is for sale and until that transacts (probably a good 6-12 months out) it'll be business-as-usual = which is a variety of draft beer throughout WI and Taproom-only beers available the two weekends we open every month.

Here's what your fellow BAs have said: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/21405/?view=ratings
So come on out, relax and enjoy some tasty unique beers! (Eight drafts and 6-8 beers in 1-liter swing-tops for take away)

    Cheers,

    FarmerD

Whatever is on tap, you will not be disappointed. If you are, I'll buy your flight, & then mock your palate relentlessly.

On the off-chance that you'll be there on Friday, drop me a line, I'll be there with several other folks.

I've been to almost all of the roughly 50 taprooms and brewpubs in the greater Twin Cities metro area, and between the unique setting and high quality and original beers, Dave's BrewFarm is my very favorite "in town." The farm is near the Minnesota border less than an hour from the Twin Cities. Although it technically falls into "Great Lakes" territory under BA's rather arbitrary definition, you probably would get more responses from Minnesotans in the Midwest forum. Speaking of geography... if Dave's were located in Vermont, people on this site would be freaking out about it. If your friend and/or you do visit, get the flight of all eight and then return to your favorite(s). It really doesn't matter what specifically is on tap; you're probably going to find something or a lot of things you like a lot.

Something I neglected to spell out in my previous post is that Dave's always has a wide variety of hard-to-define, style-busting beers. I've found that my favorite beer on tap rarely is the one that jumps out at me the most on the menu, so the flight definitely is the way to go.

Thanks for responding directly Dave! I did not realize that you were on beeradvocate. I just wanted some base knowledge because I have never been up to Wilson to visit your place. It is a bit of a drive for my buddy and I, so I wanted to get a little bit of information about the beerfarm.

Hey @BeerBoy, I'm gonna be in your neck of the woods in mid-January. Was wondering if you had the dates for the tap room set for next month yet.

It's looking like the 10-11th and 24-25th weekends in JAN, from 3-7 each of those days - hope it works with your schedule!
