Any ideas for distribution in the Portland, OR region, besides the fact there probably won't be much? The Migration event was a huge hit here, so maybe they're willing to send more.

Honestly, there are so many large (1000+) bottle shops here, not to mention the Whole Foods, Total Wine (across the state line), etc. that I feel like I could drive around for an entire day or two checking to see which places will get anything. It's frustrating to read the posts from other cities listing the specific stores and what they'll be receiving.

There was no price cut last year. I've paid $19.99/4 pack for the past 2 years. So a 35% increase is "as bad as it sounds" IMHO. I just turned down an offer to buy Vanilla and Proprietor's on Friday for ~$30 each ($26.99 + taxes).

Could you do me a solid and grab one of each for me? :astonished:

Oh, I know other people will support the price increases. And other brewers will obviously be looking to see if it has any effect on sales. If not, expect many to follow with huge increases on their own "rare" beers.

You sure about that? At least one place in Nashville has advertised having BCBW and quite a few more have acknowledged privately that they'll have it available on Frida.

Who advertised barleywine? I hadn't been able to find much info about Nashville's Black Friday at all yet.

Red Dog in Franklin posted it to their FB today. And, yeah, it seems as though details for the greater Nashville area have been sketchy at best so far.

    "Black Friday Beer Release!
Goose Island Bourbon County is set to come in and be on the floor and ready to go by 9am Black Friday, Nov. 21sth. We will be getting Bourbon County 12oz bottles and it will also be available for 32oz growler fills. We are also getting Bourbon County Barleywine 12oz bottles.

There will be a very limited quantity which means there will be a bottle limit per customer. Each customer can have one (1) 4 pack of Bourbon County Stout and two (2) 12oz Barleywines OR one (1) 32oz growler, two(2) 12oz Bourbon County Stouts, and two (2) 12oz Barleywines."

Ah, their tweet was less descriptive than that. Thanks for the info, I think that's the only concrete one for far.

Sure thing. It does strike me as odd that most places haven't said anything about Black Friday as of yet. Very weird IMO.

    Oh... um... well...

What I meant to say is that the price was cut in half two years ago.

Check out the Mid-Atlantic forum. There is an individual thread for just about every area.

This is easily one of the most reprehensible business practices out there. Why should I have to purchase an item to purchase another item? I suppose it's similar to buying a ticket for the right to buy a beer, which many of us don't balk at, but in many cases that money goes to charity or something similar; this is just straight into the pockets of the store and Goose Island.

I agree. Talking to the store owner, it sounded like the distributor put him up to it. It's especially unfortunate because I do spend a lot of money at that store and I likely would have bought something else with my BCBS, but it probably wouldn't have been a Goose Island product. We'll see if I can get around it.

Agreed about the price hike going to turn away a lot of people. It is a shame because it's going to leave the most crazy beer hoarders out there gobbling up all the Bourbon County and trading it. Although 30$ for a bomber of Proprietor's or Vanilla is pretty cheap considering what the value of it will be in a years time for trading purposes. Backyard from last year can trade from anywhere between 50$ to 75$ now in beer and Proprietor's is worth at least 75$ now.

This is the problem with the craft beer scene.

Beer is for drinking. It's not a collectible, or an investment for profit.

"Amps up" my ass. My local bottle shop got screwed for the second year in a row. 6 measly cases this year and one-bottle-per-customer limits. And again, I direct an unkind gesture at Goose Island for insisting on doing this on Black Friday. Dumbest idea ever and I wish they'd knock it the f$%#& off.
