Tired Hands Pineal IPA - this is in the fridge, and when my kids get here tonight this will get consumed (gotta share)

Thanks for an awesome box - I am close to working off my PA/IPA inventory, and these two are both around 6%, that is often exactly what I want.

 

Sorry about your dog -- I've never been a dog owner (except for one month), but absolutely love them; most of my closest friends and neighbors have dogs and they are absolutely members of the family. Hope the rest of the family takes the news OK...

Yeah I'm more of a cat person myself but warmed up to the dogs -- I'm most worried about my mom. Being on disability (from a work accident years ago) has her being stay at home, so the animals are pretty much her source of companionship while myself, my sister, and my dad are out and about (work, school, etc). I know the other two will take it pretty hard (myself also, but not nearly as hard as any of those three), but I know she's gonna be a mess for the foreseeable future.

On note of the discussion they did decide they are putting him down tonight. An unfortunate last 24 hours, but it'll be better in the long run for him. Sorry to fill up the thread with some depressing stuff, VBS should be in effect soon I hope. Will definitely be cracking one of these BCBS for him

 

Sorry, dogs are a tough one to lose.

 

SW VA in the mountains. Hillsville is the closest town and that's probably 20 minutes away. Its right off the parkway, which is nice, but man is it in the middle of nowhere...

 

And I'm gonna kick off VBS.

 

@ninjembro - I can't even, man. Losing a dog is rough. So sorry to hear it.

 

@ninjembro I'm so sorry to hear man, I'm already toasting the passing of our mutual friend's dog, so yours has dibs on my second beer of the night. Not a good week for dogs in C-PA

No problem -- like I said, if for some reason I don't like it, I will be sending beer to plenty of people in the next month or two.

 

Well, apparently I was a little hasty on reporting that they were "for sure" putting him down tonight (as this was what I was told the decision was around 5pm). They called the vet before taking him in to do it, and while they still want to do a checkup, they said they want to give him a bit more time on the medication they gave him yesterday -- there is a chance that he can make it through this and be able to walk normally, but won't be able to run/jump up/down from places. Personally I'd rather not see him suffer and/or risk having him get excited again in the future and try to jump down from the couch, but I know I'm in a very small minority with that opinion, and would rather see him go before his pain can get any worse.

 

Sorry to hear, our cat is like our child, and I can't imagine the pain your family feels, as I know the pain I have felt over loosing animals in the past. Prayers for you and your family and especially the little one.

 

So still about 3 hours away. While your in that area, absolutely hit up Devils Backbone. They have been killing it in the awards department at GABF the last couple of years and its well deserved. They don't make a lot of the biggest, baddest beers around, but the stuff the focus on, mostly German styles, is done VERY well. I attended a wedding at Wintergreen a while back and randomly showed up at Devil's Backbone and was very pleasantly surprised.
