Well you have the power to stop buying any Goose Island beer. I'm sure there are local breweries that are more deserving of your craft beer budget. And you'll probably get more beer for your buck.

Second the displeasure with a Black Friday release. It used to be you just started calling all the stores in your area Nov 1 and showed up when they had it.

Now I can only go to one place and get one 4 pack and have to stand in line forever to do it.

Last year, every Binny's in Chicago said "Black Friday" and when I called a different store they said it had come and gone. Goose Island was not releasing on Black Friday, Binny's was storing it until then. Everyone store I've called said it's going to be a total nightmare in Chicago.

I suspect they are sending more to other states that haven't gotten any/much in the past. I know GA hasn't ever gotten BCBS before, but it's coming!

You guys didn't get any last year? Any clue if you'll get Vanilla Rye?

The ABV was always too high for the state's 14%. Finally under it this year, due to the cold weather that didn't up the abv from the barrels.

We aren't getting any variants. No coffee, no vanilla, nothing. Just plain stout, and barleywine.

We got some barleywine last year, but it was a surprise and wasn't announced.

Oh I certainly have the power to NOT buy it. The problem is I do NOT have the power TO buy it. I have to visit family over Thanksgiving weekend that live in a "beer wasteland", so ever since GI started releasing BCBS on Black Friday, I've been screwed!

Oh well, there IS a benefit to NOT having the opportunity to buy BCBS - you don't feel bad when you drop $20 on a bottle of Bourbon-barrel-aged Narwhal. Am I right?

Cheers! in Salisbury, MD will be filling growlers of the original Brand Stout. They will have very limited quantities of bottles too.

The bottles of BCBS I've seen are marked as 14.4% compared to last year's 14.2% and 14.9%, so it's still labeled as over 14%.

Too high for my old state of Ohio, too. Vanilla Rye was labeled at 13.9% so maybe GA is ONLY getting variants?!?

Any store owners or employees that received it last year, what was the cost per case then?

Now that's just odd. My BCBS '14 is 14.4%...and bottle dated Aug 8, 14. What's your bottle date?

The ones I got say bottled in Spetember. I guess just like last year, they have different batches.

Good to hear some clocked in under 14% so other states can get all-up-in some BCBS!

Yeah, I just meant that the only way for consumers to try to change practices is through buying/not buying.

In Kentucky, shouldn't there be some local breweries making some good bourbon-barrel aged stuff?

I had a local store try and pull that shit with KBS. Telling me I have to buy two 6-packs of Founders regular beer to buy one 4-pack of KBS. Ridiculous. I've made similar mistakes with hard to get beer so I feel your pain.

Time rewarded the stores who released early last year with double the amount this year and they are already sold out. If the rep tells you not till black friday you had better listen, but I've heard first hand the rep tell a VT bar "it's a crock of shit - sell whenever you want, only the tourist beer stores play out that rule to hype up the sales of its other products".

I totally disagree. I love the Black Friday release because it forces people to choose a place to purchase a (hopefully) reasonable allotment and that place will (hopefully) be your local shop if they get it. It's not a perfect system but it at least slows down the hardcore with too much money and nothing else to do from going store to store to store and buying up huge amounts. That's exactly what happened in my area with KBS.

There is variation in the ABV during the batches and blending.

There is a 13.X% stuff that is made, that I'm sure will come here, and the other stuff stay where it's acceptable. Last year was 14.9% and 14.2%.
