Been thinking about posting this for a while but haven't seen many posts for it lately. What would it take from this list to do so? Trying to get an idea before I post up. Looking for some advice. Cheers! JK Atrial JK Nocturn JK O&P JK Colour 5 JK Encendia JK La vie en rose JK Provenance (all 3) Peche n Brett Attempted Redrum Abyss 12/13 Crooked Stave Raspberry Dark Origins Crooked Stave Persica Crooked Stave BB Cherry Origins Prairie Bomb (b1) Prairie Pirate Bomb Prairie Noir (b1 750ml) Prairie Pirate Noir Rare Barrel Cosmic Dust Rare Barrel Forces Unseen Thanks in advance!
All the Prairie Beers: don't bother. They don't command enough to even think about Churchill's. Abyss: Ditto. Jester King: maaaaybe, but doubtful. Don't bother with La Vie En Rose or Encendia or the Provenance stuff, too common. A big quantity of the others has a low percentage chance of finding the right set of eyes, but you'd have to go way, way over $4$. Peche n Brett: doubtful, but possible as part of a package. Attempted Redrum: no. Crooked Stave: Persica might be a viable start. Rare Barrel: no. The base problem with your list is that the vast majority of these beers are plenty easy to get for anyone who'd have a Churchill's. You need to go big with a one-off, or put together a package of very sought-after beers if you're serious. Aside from maybe a couple of the rare JKs & Persica,, nothing on this list is going to generate any interest for a beer as limited as Churchill's. Good luck. It's a fantastic beer.
If you put together a package of 4-6 bottles of the JK 500 ml bottles and those three 2013 Crooked Stave Cellar Reserve beers, I think you'd be pretty close.
Or just find some regular traders who don't hold beers for hostage. You send them good stuff... They send you good stuff. Guys like @JustXBeer who sent me a CFH as a surprise box He's one of the best guys out there!!
If it takes that much, not worth it at all IMO...other stouts just as good if not better are more easily attainable.
While it's fun to tick off new brews, Nothing tastes as good as the hype. Nothing is worth over trading to get. It's just beer. A perishable, consumable. Nothing more.
I completely agree. I recently had some 2011 CFH at a tasting and while it was very good, it definitely wasn't worth what it commands in trading.
Of the modern sought after stouts though what is? Therefore I agree with your assessment of what it would take to get that CFH based on that list. Is that overkill, probably, but it's hard to remember the logic that "it's just beer" when you're taking the quantity route, because you know what you're offering up is: A) on it's own not as desired or sought B) you yourself have had multiples thereby C) you too have already ticked what you're trading away I will say that being from Texas I have found taking the quantity route has allowed me to establish solid trade relationships. Even when I go quantity I'll go further over the top as a surprise, and when I reach back out to them when something drops local to them, they have no problem trying to help me out.
Not sure if this is still available or if you got vanilla bcbs but there's a guy on reddit willing to go 1:1 CFH for Vanilla...you'd be surprised what hype and flavor of the week status can do to make something you'd never think you would get done before possible....that and the hundreds of offers people are making ISO Vanilla right now trying to outbid one another
