    Greetings,

Headed to Asheville for a bachelor weekend. Looking for some beer related things to do (tours etc) whilst there. Lemme know and thanks in advance.

Thirsty Monk is a must-visit. IMHO, best selection of locals/regionals is Barley's. As for tours and brewery visits, I defer to the locals. But I would consider visiting Wedge and Green Man's bar/tasting room. Have a great weekend!

I know that they do a tour thing for the breweries in town... Can't remember what it is called. You can park in downtown and walk to Bruisin' Ales, Mellow Mushroom, The LAB, Barleys, Green Man, Craggie, Asheville Brewing Company, and The Thirsty Monk all in one day while being on foot. Pisgah is a short little drive over in Black Mountain or Highland is just outside the city to the East. Wedge is down by the river if you walk a little further west of Green Man. Great city. If I were going to be around I would join you guys and show you the ropes... Have a blast!

The Thirsty Monk is great. Although it is completely unrelated to beer, Early Girl Eatery is a MUST for breakfast food. They serve it all day. Nothing better than some shrimp and grits before a night of debauchery.

Excellent, thanks for the input. Just found out that my friend's dad is the brewer at LAB, so that should be pretty awesome. Thanks and I'll report back the results/mugshots.

Breweries/brewpubs (in relative order of strongest to weakest):
    Pisgah
    The Wedge
    Highland
    Craggie
    Dirty Jack's
    Asheville Pizza and Brewing
    French Broad
    The LAB

    Bars:
    Thirsty Monk (Downtown and South)
    Barley's Taproom
    The Bier Garden
    Jack of the Wood
    UJ
    Mellow Mushroom
    Pack's Tavern
    Westville Pub

    Beer stores:
Appalachian Vintner--the best prices in town and the brothers who run it are great, friendly guys. Not quite as good a selection as Bruisin', but still a great selection and their new place has 10 beers on tap.
Bruisin' Ales--Best selection in town, but prices are quite a bit higher than anywhere else and some of the workers there will sometimes treat you like you're ******ed (I had them tell me multiple times that it would take weeks for Curmudgeon's Better Half to get distributed despite other stores having already gotten and sold out of it)
Hops and Vines--decent selections, though will occasionally price gouge (they charged $30/bottle for CBS and Curmudgeon's Better Half)
The Weinhaus--decent selection and prices, though you won't find many beers there that you can't find elsewhere. The fact that it's right by the Thirsty Monk makes it convenient, though
Green Life and Earth Fare--both hippie grocery stores where you'll pay out the ass for any groceries, but they both have decent and reasonably priced beer selections.

Early Girl Eatery? Gonna have to try that one. The place I go for breakfast is Over Easy. Lots of organic goodness and very good coffee. Mentioning that place just makes my mouth water. yummm!!
