Always check dates on ipas unless im at the brewery (even then). Charleston total wine still has bombers of coast pales/ipas from JUNE. They also thtow their barcode over COASTS bottled date on most of those bottles. I flat out wont buy in ipa without a date unless i know it was recently released

We actually had it stacked in the middle of the store, right there in front for the world to see, no limit. It didnt sell at all, but then like 2 weeks later the word got out and it disappeared stat. Problem was that in our little area (RDU), people dont even think to look for HDR at Total Wine. Its been at the specialty bottle shops on the regular, but never here. Once word caught on, it was gone.

On another note, sometimes we do have a freshness issue. That is resolved at my store here in Durham, as Ill literally tell people to put back old beer. The more OOD beer we return to the vendor, the less total wine as a company force orders insane amounts in my store.

Small steps toward a larger goal.

JP - Corey made it right.

Never had to check dates on Hdr, it doesn't last long enough to warrant a check, this was an exception.

To whoever: if you don't think there's a difference between fresh Hdr and 9 week old shit, hurry your ass down to the High Point TW there's 5 cases with your name on it. Enjoy.

I'm not understanding this post, before you buy an IPA check the date. It's not Total Wines fault they don't check all IPAs weekly, and throw out stock you consider to old to drink.

I was told that this was a one-time thing where Noda did an entire batch of Hop Drop just for Total Wine. They don't normally distribute, you're right, and I don't know how this was handled from that standpoint.

But I do know that about 2 months ago, all the Total Wines in the Triangle simultaneously got a shitload of it (as well as Jam Sesh & Cavu) and were doing no limits on it until it was gone. No other shops around here got any, just TW. Any still left at any TW location are remnants of this. Many people did not know about it and some people I told just outright didn't believe me. Also some TW locations had it in difficult to see places, not really advertising it. Hence why there is old Hop Drop still there now.

If towards my post: the entire post was tongue in cheek. Next time I'll add smiley faces. Cheers

No problem sarcasm doesn't work well on the screen, but NoDa was interested and was going to see about pulling the product. Their intentions are if you see Hdr its fresh no questions asked. Have a good weekend sorry didn't mean to offend.

You are that appalled by 9 week old beer? I've seen way worse! Once I saw a 2 year old Rogue XS IPA on the shelves at TW. I actually didn't see it on the shelves, my girlfriend was buying me beer and bought it without looking at the bottling date. Needless to say it was undrinkable.

Also, I've only had HDR once and was completely underwhelmed. Maybe it was a TW special aged batch, but it was average at best.

Oh BA, you never cease to amaze me. We should demand all IPAs over 2 weeks old be dumped down the drain immediately.

NoDa was notified and they said they would address it. After talking to the store manager it looks like they had inventory Nd no one knew it hence the 9 week old stuff, I wouldn't assume this will happen again. But I a till don't buy hoppy stuff from TW. No where in this is there any mention of 2 week old ips's? This brew typically in single digit days old when it's bought, and I can assure you 9 week old stuff is a completely different brew, if that's ok with you then it's ok for me too drink what you like, I'll pass.

The Total Wines in Charlotte generally carry really fresh Hop Drop and are a great place to stop for a no 4-pack limit when driving through town. But even there I'd check the dates, that's why they're there.

I don't think anyone has a limit on HDR currently. We certainly don't and typically sell out of our HDR, or get close to selling out every week. I would certainly rather sell out than have older product, but thats just us. Once we had HDR 3 weeks old! Ha! My driver from NODA is VERY and i mean VERY good about rotating any of the previous weeks HDR to the front.

I was at the Myers Park Total Wine last month and the HDR I picked up was only about 2 weeks old...

The problem I have with the TW out here is most of the beer is not refrigerated. 1 week of unrefrigerated shelf time is more like 1 month of refrigerated. The only thing I tend to pick up from them are stouts and belgians.
