This has nothing to do with beer, but any of you fellow Chicagoans been to this joint and can vouch whether it is as awesome as it sounds? Any good Chicago Italian Beef recommendations would be highly appreciated!

On a beer note, I feel like Applejack's in Lakewood is the equivalent to Binny's in the Chicagoland area. Obviously, one one location vs. a crap ton but you get my drift.

Chicago has the king shit Italian beef sandwiches. I love that place. But as a new jack you gotta go across the street to casa bonita and get you some diahrrea...

I'm also a fellow Chicago transplant. Good news: we are getting Pipeworks distro in 2015. Bad news: you will not find a decent Italian Beef anywhere no matter what anyone tells you. That Chicago place on Colfax has mediocre overpriced beefs. The hot dogs are not bad.

Biggest differences you'll run into much better weather much worse food(or Atleast food options).

    It's awesome here. Enjoy.

I lived in Chicago for 7 years, and if you ask me, Italian Beef just blows. What a shitty, overrated sandwich.

Weird, another person from Chicago moving to Denver... Who could've ever seen this coming?! Just please please don't wear your fucking Blackhawks jersey you bought in 2010 when they got good and pretend you've been a fan all your life...

I kid I kid. But welcome to Denver, and whoever said the food sucks is wrong, it's just not the same. Funny huh? Hope you like it and in case you were unaware is gonna be 72 tomorrow. Denver kicks ass

And whoever said Italian beefs suck can go fuck themselves. Have fun eating shitty burritos and subpar sandwhiches. Colorado cuisine is awful and this is coming from a professional chef.

And Midwest beer will ways be better than CO beer. Sorry but you all need to deal with it.

No joke, I once had my parents fly out with the "to-go" Italian beef package you can get from there...a bag of frozen pre-sliced beer and a container of the gravy. It was on the better decisions I ever made...man was it awesome having Portillo's at my house in Denver.

I see the midwest hype train travels as well.

That's just false. You telling me Acorn, Sushi Den, Frasca (yes, I'm counting Boulder, it's closer to Denver than Chicago is to most burbs), Cholon, Mizuna, Frasca, Oak, Bittersweet, Barolo, and so on couldn't compete with anything in Chicago? And that's just places off the top of my head, there's plenty more. Sure, we don't have Alinea or Next, but we have plenty of great food in this town to do just fine. And I'm as big a Chicago fanboy as you'll find.

So you're taking the 'MIDWEST' versus 'COLORADO'? How many states make up the MIDWEST? This doesn't seem fair!

Let him think what he wants. That's one less person buying up our beers and one more person overvaluing beers that other regions roll their eyes at.

    Frozen, pre-sliced beer sounds intriguing.

I'd have to disagree with you. The Midwest does have some great breweries, but the Midwest also has some of the most over hyped beers/sub par beers. There are so many breweries out here that are just bottling decent home brew. They all have batch variation, off flavors, wrong SRMS, and the list goes on.

The Midwest has good one off beers. Good one off's doesn't mean overall better beers. A lot of great beers are made here. The Midwest hypes up every damn hard to get beer. I saw it everyday for four years running a beer department out here. The lack of consistency and the amount ignorance in the beer scene here is pathetic.

The Midwest can learn a lot from Colorado IMO.
