From post #240 in the main thread about this year's release. Last year's winter had an effect on the barrels.

Very interesting article. Thanks for posting! Based on their tasting notes, I think I'll be enjoying my remaining '13's rather than chasing the '14's.

I did get an answer to this on this thread. The company said it's due to the cold weather last year which affected how the aging barrels did their job. This resulted in a lower ABV. According to the reviewers' tasting notes on the '14's, I think I'll stick with my '13's mostly.

First-time BCBS shopper here: Got a 4-pack of regular for only $24 in Waukesha, WI; only had to wait 15 minutes in a line with maybe a dozen other people, so I'm pretty pleased. :grinning: That said, they only had regular there and I really want to try the barleywine, so I may stop by another place in Wauwatosa doing their release early tomorrow morning.

Paid $21 for a 4 pack of BCBS in Northern KY. Was also able to grab an 8oz snifter of BCBS on tap. I'd have to drink a '13 and a '14 back to back to really accurately compare, but I really enjoyed the '14.

The regular this year is 14.4%. the others will vary in ABV%. I know the regular was 14.9% last year. I wonder how much of a difference in taste this one will be?

Not true in SC. It was $84 per case wholesale last year for my local shop, and it was the same this morning when I bought a 4-pack of BCBS. Owner used his standard markup formula, and the price was $18.99. Also got one bottle of BCBCS for $5.

There are 3 different abv% for the regular this year - There were 2 different abv% for the regular last year.

That is strange. why would the regular vary in ABV%?

Different batches. Getting into markets that have sales caps at 14% or above.

Went to total wine (Melbourne Florida) when they opened at 8am. I got there at around 7:50am and there was already about 25 people in line. I thought I was screwed and wouldn't get anything when I got in. But they had a table there with all the BC beers. I was impressed, it was really well organized and there was an employee there telling us our limit and what we could get. I just missed out on the coffee but I was able to get 2 4 packs for the regular and one vanilla rye. One 4 pack was $23.99 and the vanilla was $25.99.

But the big surprise was just walking around the store and finding a BA Narwal. When I first heard about it I couldn't find it anywhere. I was totally shocked to see that sitting on the shelf. Needless to say I snagged it. All in all it's been a good day for getting some good beer.

The Abv on the 2014 is 13.8, last year I got two one at 14.2 the other at 14.9. Interisting to see in that difference is noticible, we have a sub 15% here. I also have some 2012 at 15% on my shelf, but ey came from out of state.

Thanks for the link! I am comparing the '13 and '14 BCBS right now, and I mostly agree with them. This year is slightly more fruity, my '13 has smoothed out and is pure malty bourbony heaven.

Anyone else rather drink some breakfast stouts rather than sip on this whiskey?

I work at a store in Laconia, NH. We have a suggested retail price but we decide what we want to charge. Not sure about other states though.

I suppose you are right. After reading more I see it is all over the place. Last year my area had 120 cases plus variants, my store had 20 cases of the reg. This year was a heart breaking 2 cases, one Barley. Decent amount of kegs for the ones who support Goose all year. I didn't even Vanilla this year, sigh..

I wouldn't even pay $12 for BCBS. This stuff is difficult to drink. Wouldn't mind trying the barleywine though

$11 for a bottle for me in Maryland, single bottle limit. Like a few others that I've tried, I'll spend this type of money for a beer that I've never had before but probably won't again in the future.

Was it by any chance the DC metro area part of Maryland?
