On vacation from NY to see the family in south Florida - coffee is same price as regular and BW. $22 per 4 pack at Total Wine. Best part is there are no lines.

I think next year they should give gold wristbands to everyone who is lined up by 8am, saying "sorry you won't be able to remove these without a hacksaw, but we want to make sure you get what you deserve", then at 9am when they open they should put up a sign saying "people with gold wristbands will not be served"

Off Topic: Saddened by my lack of a hual at TH (stepped off line once variants were gone), I walked over to New Beer and bought some GI Big John and spotted some Parabola behind the counter while paying. And WF Bowery has BA Narwhal, BA Pumpking and '14 Black Ops in. so not a total loss.

I'm as perplexed about the coffee pricing as anyone. I bought coffee at $25/4pack in Brooklyn on Tuesday (at a grocery store that didn't know better than to put them out).

I was closer to the front, I walked out with a case of BCBS, 2 BW, 1 Vanilla, 1 '13 BW, and 1 '13 Backyard Rye. Skipped on the coffee at $14/btl.

Are you suggesting that anyone who got there early deserved not to get any? I got there at about 6:45, had a great time in line. Thanks to my buddy Daniel, enjoyed Coffee Framinghammer and Mikkeler Vanilla Shake while munching on beignets and sipping coffee. Always nice people in line, and I didn't see anyone acting privileged or like an asshole. I'd be frustrated with TH for not better communicating to those in the back about the situation, but not sure what your gripe is with those of us who got there earlier.

No gripe. It was a joke. I didn't seriously mean TH should put permanent wristbands on people and then refuse to serve them.

But.... based on what time it seems people had to turn up this year to ensure they got hold of something, then no doubt people will get there even earlier next year. Personally I think that's something to be discouraged.

I hear you - I have no idea how to combat demand outpacing supply so extremely as in this case. I think the more on top of watching numbers, sharing information, and letting people make informed decisions, the better. The coffee and beignets were nice, but I'm sure most folks would prefer the beer to the beignets.

I did joke with my friend that I looked forward to seeing him at 5 am next year. Sigh.

Got there just before 7 and was in the first group of people at the corner / just around the corner. I was bummed with the coffee price but said screw it since i probably wont see any around me and would spend more in gas and tolls driving around for it. Women at the register handing out glasses said they had 100 of them if I heard correctly because as I was waiting for my friend in the bathroom they ran out.

Are there any other places in Manhattan that are selling bottles today?

It is an escalating arms race between people getting there earlier and earlier. If supply doesn't increase, people will need to get there even earlier next year. Or, maybe people will determine waking up a 4am for beer isnt worth it.

An escalating arms race for decreasing supply, by all accounts - word is that NY got at least 1/3 less supply than last year, due to GI expanding into new markets.

They should do a pre-drawn lottery or some kind of rewards-based allocation perhaps. I dunno - there's no right answer with this type of thing.

got there a little after 7:30 and was able to get each variant. looked like there were just a few bags left after us so i'm assuming the cut off was folks who arrived at 7:45 maybe?

There's three places in BK selling it for $8 a bottle right now. Looks like TH was just massively overcharging.

What's more bizarre is them massively overcharging with InBev's consent. That's the sketchiest bit of all.

The bodega near my apartment, which has a very consistent policy of charging 2 X MSRP, were charging 17 for coffee. So definitely something up with TH pricing, as these guys would love to charge $28 if they could. All I can think is someone messed up somewhere. Must be a mistake
