I know everyone wants to make it seem like this guy put a lot of pressure on the manager and somehow tricked him, but I have another theory. The manager at another Walgreens, I believe the Greektown one (I talked to so many I forget) told me that the Bucktown Walgreens was 100% for sure doing their release at midnight. I told her there was no way, and that it was surely noon. She insisted several times until I asked her if she could double check. It took her several minutes to do whatever but she did come back and say that yes, she was wrong and it was a noon release. Its entirely possible she had told several other people that the Bucktown was releasing at midnight, who showed up genuinely believing this to be the case.

Buying multiple cases of it.... the guy probably was given the opportunity and took it. Well that sucks.

Drinking an original now and it's delicious!! Thank you again Lisa at Jewel.

Local bar had original aged in templeton and a BW on tap, had those prior to dinner. Blackout Friday is always a great one thanks to GI. Keep up the great work brewers.

How was Oak Brook binnys?? I had to choose between there and Buffalo Grove. Went BG at 5:45am and got everything but coffee as the 17th person in line... no regrets but curious what 5:45 at Oak Brook would have been like...

Weird because it seemed like everything went really smooth. Everyone was chill and the line moved fast. just my opinion!

It's surprising that bcbs is easier to get in northwest Indiana than in Chicago. I went to 2 liquor stores in valpo and my brother and I were each able to get a 4pack of regular and a single barley wine at 1 store arriving at open with about 10ppl in front of us and a 4 pack of reg at the other store with zero wait. I walked right up to the counter. Granted this was all within 30 minutes of opening and they sold out shortly after. The only issue was no other variants have come in yet but that seems to be pretty common this year.

I have now been called into work the last four years in a row on black friday. I managed to get a four pack of regular(which I am thankful for) on the way home but will dream of one day being able to purchase one of the variants.

At the risk of irresponsible rabble-rousing, it sounds like another individual and his mule were alerted and made off with cases each -- this, despite recovering from a horrible neck injury! I wonder how well a neck brace functions as a scarf -- I hear it was super cold out last night! BRRRRRRR!

I stood in line at Binnys for 2 hours, went to my local Costco in the early afternoon, and heard multiple reports of the local Woodmans not getting stock in until Monday (which turned out not to be true). Total score = 1 12oz reg, 1 12 oz BW.

I'm generally discouraged by the Woodmans CVille news. I called on Tuesday and spoke with such a nice woman who assured me that they weren't even getting it untilMonday morning and that her distributor was coming in to help get it ready to sell as soon as it came off the truck hopefully by 8:20. I'll be fine as I was able to get some today but I feel bad for those that were relying on this either because they were out of town or had other plans this morning. On the bright side , there are a ton of great beer bars out this way. Keep your eyes peeled for beermenus and go treat yourselves.

Bloomingdale Binny's - limit 1 4 pack of regular, 1 12oz coffee, 1 12oz Barleywine, and choose either Proprietors or Vanilla. I arrived about 6:30 and was #23 in line. Last year, I was in virtually the same position, but arrived an hour later. Initially, I was kind of pissed I couldn't get both bombers. But that does mean that 84 people went home with a bomber (3 cases Vanilla, 4 Prop.). You could have showed up at 8:15-8:30 and walked away with some really sought after beer.

Seems like Jewell was the place for regular. Walked into one and the guy asked if I wanted to buy all 5 cases. Seems like they just wanted to blow through it and be done.

And no I didn't take his offer lol

I happened upon getting my variants because I showed up just after the truck randomly showed up at that store. They also were not expecting it until Monday. You can't blame the stores for when the distributors get around to dropping it off. I'm sure you could find a way to complain that they sold it as soon as it came in instead of announcing a date. Either way, it sounds like most places are getting only one or two cases of a random variant; it wasn't going to last long. If you really want to be upset, go yell at the stores that broke the street date early last year. That's why there was a delay on delivery.

In Elmhurst for the weekend, so I did a Saturday morning check of area stores. Come and gone at Sal's Beverage World, Corner Cottage hasn't got any yet. Last night I was able to get a single of Barleywine from Doti for 7 bucks after asking; they could still have some, I suppose.

I showed up at OB Binnys at 7.30 and was around #30 or so. Line stayed under 50 until about 8/8.15, then it exploded.

You got to buy 1 bottle each of Coffee/BW, 1 bomber, and 1 reg 4 pack.

Not great, but it did allow the first 80 or so to get a bomber.
