I landed a few 4 packs of BCBS so I'm happy.

I even left one on the table because it was the last one at a store and I already got my fair share.

Really wish I could try some variants though

I landed a 4pk of BCBS and a bottle of the Vanilla Rye. This was my first year getting these so I decided to shell out the $57 for all of it. Compared to what everyone else is saying they payed, I might have payed a little over average. No big deal to me though, I'm just happy to have it.

Just drank a BCBS. First time having one. It might be the fact that I am newer to craft beer, and prefer IPAs, but my first impression is horrendously overrated. Boozy tasting. Greatly prefer Founders breakfast stout. Don't get me wrong...I love a nice imperial stout at the end of the night, but I don't think this would be any better blind against the Stone Russian Imperial Stout.

Managed to score a bunch of BCBS today, so I will be able to sit on some bottles to see if my opinion improves. Have some of the barley wine as well. But so far...not living up to the hype.

I admire your restraint. But I wouldn't call it greedy if some well-heeled individuals "ran in" and paid $40 per. Isn't it greed when you want more than someone else thinks you deserve? Only way I can see that this would be greedy is if they will be trading them for a lot more than $40 value per. Even then, Americans used to call that simply "supply and demand at work," back in the days when free market Capitalism was not blamed for every darned economic inconvenience.

First year chasing BCBS. What a long, strange trip it has been. Started day in north Kansas City where much of it was distributed 2 weeks ago. On a hunch stopped at store on the Kansas side. Got one 12 oz. BCBS. Had to head to Wichita for family obligations. Stopped in Lawrence, only to be told at two different places it was on its way, but they weren't sure when. Nearing Wichita called a place thought might have it, only to be told deliveries were hours late. Left name and number. Five minutes later called back and said delivery in. Went out of our way to store, selling singles at $9.99 per, bought 4 anyway. Kicking myself until I tasted on tap at Old Chicago of all places. When we requested a second pour the bartender pointed out it was 14% and no one had had a second pour all day. We just smiled. Damn, maybe it was worth it! Whew! What a day!

Seems like my prices only went up about 10% yoy. Picked up a vanilla, coffee, bw and 4-pack of the regular and the bill was $57 with tax.

Had to be at work at midnight this morning and got off about 7:50 a.m. and cruised over to the closest TW. Sat back and smoked part of a cigar for a moment while I contemplated the size of the line, then joined the other 2 fellows waiting. Walked in and picked up the four pack of origional allowed grabbed a CS Undead Party Crasher for good measure and paid 21.99 for the BCBS. With money being what it is this is what I could afford and really couldn't see myself going through a ton of trouble for a variant instead so I consider myself happy.

Well put. I think a fair number of people on here talk about refusing business to BMC, until the BCBS release.

Got and drank my one bottle of Coffee BCBS today. Man I think it might be better than last year's. Hard to believe a 12% beer can be that smooth without any aging.

FBS is a great beer... but to me, it can't even touch bcbs. They're also difficult to compare as they are two very different beers. Unless... you're comparing the bcbs coffee to FBS... in which case bcbs coffee destroy's it, no contest lol

Had a good haul in middle of "we don't care about beer" PA (at least that's what it seemed like). 6 regular, 4 coffee, 4 barleywine (though the store we got the BW at apparently sold us 2013? Fresh out of the case too... strangest thing), and 1 vanilla

4 of the regular came from a store that got one case, put it on the shelf early, and I got it almost a full 24 hours after it originally hit the shelf (though I got the last 4 pack)

I would definitely attribute it to the first two things you mentioned there. Its a very aggressive beer and I would probably be more suprised if a new beer drinker did really appreciate it. As far as a blind test with Stone, RIS, there's no point to doing that blind, the two beers are so different that probably everybody could identify them with 100% accuracy. I think when you first start drinking stouts, the flavors of a standard stout are very bold and different than the beers you normally drink, and that is enough to satisfy that part of you that craves that. Eventually though, they can start to taste rather ordinary (still delicious, just not different), and that's when you can really start to appreciate the barrel aged brews. You probably experience similar things with IPAs, most people like them progressively bigger and bigger.

Their beer club is a straight joke. You want me to pay you more money in order to buy beer from you? Give me a break. I was at the end of my rope with the Party Source and this just pushed me over the edge. What a scam. Not to mention the Ei8htball bar is the most overpriced bar I've ever been to and I lived in NYC for years.

I will not be supporting them anymore. I know it's not much but after this and numerous other stories I've heard from smaller shop owners in the area about how big of douchebags they are, I can't justify going there anymore.

I'll stick to my local spot in Florence. They get everything and are more than happy to sell it to you and talk beer at any time.

I wish that were true, but with the influx of new people into craft beer, it seems like people aren't willing to search out beer anymore. People with a ton of extra money to blow would rather pay more to do less. I always thought half the fun was the chase, but oh well.

But seriously, f the party source. They suck.

Many years ago my first thought as well, overly sweet and boozy. Now it's my flagship BA Stout, love it. It took me 4-5 bottles to get it though, hang in there it's the first really big beer I had.

Drove down to the flagship Binny's in Chicago. Had access to everything between the three of us (didn't get BW because coffee is so damn good!:grinning:). Froze our nuts off! Prop ran out at 10:45, Rye later than that and coffee and BW made it all the way through the ticket holders. It was clear to me that most of the variant stock was there because they had tons and others complaining of lack of access elsewhere.

Despite the negativity thrown out on this thread about Kahns Indy release, I thought it was ran extremely well given the unexpected high turnout. I respect Al for making the right decision (decreasing limits of regular) to help make sure everyone who showed up walked away with something. If you didn't know what to do or where to go inside, there were dozens of employees present to whom you could have simply asked a question.

Hindsight being 20/20, it wouldn't surprise me to see the limits next year to be decided once turnout is established. This was only the 2nd year for this event, and attendance was exponentially more this year (and waaaay earlier).
