I wonder how much they're charging for Vanilla. Last year they wanted $50 for Backyard Rye.

Would love to hear from TH on this. I have only been there a handful of times, but these guys have a good reputation. Did they really intentionally gouge people? I remember a thread on here last year or two years ago where there was some price gouging going on with GI stuff where store had a lame excuse and people went off on them on Facebook. Placed closed down.

I got there at 8am on the dot and was too late to get anything other than the regular BCBS, which was a huge disappointment. It wouldn't have been a big deal if you didn't have to wait in line an additional TWO hours after the doors opened to realize this disappointment. I thought the event was generally well organized, but it could've been better. Bring out a swiper (pre-opening) and get people taken care of and hand out tickets. You could then easily determine how many bottles you have left. This way you can save a lot of people a lot of time too.

That said, I'm not going to complain too much. Come noon, they had everything on tap with 5 oz pours for $5 each. I was able to get 3 pours of BCBCS, BCBBW, and Vanilla Rye. I do feel like that was redeeming.

Needless to say, I'm definitely not lining up early next year or any other year. Not hours for the CHANCE to buy 1 bomber and 4 12oz bottles. Just not worth it.

Agreed. Sucks you had to wait for just regular BCBS. I'm sure the counts were set and hundreds of people didn't have to wait hours in the cold for regular BCBS.

Do a head count, give out tickets, warn people how much supply there is, whatever, just don't have people waiting there for no reason. A huge pet peeve of mine.

That's all over and done with. Let's concentrate on where to get the rest of the VR that's hitting the city.

anyone see this in the Whole Foods yet? Really just looking for BCBCS... since I figure BCBS will be regularly available at Top Hops, and I got to try the Vanilla at One Mile House.

I just saw that the C-town supermarket in Astoria recently added BCBS + variants to their page and they are also charging $13.99 per bottle for coffee. I've picked up singles of BCBCS at a couple different local shops in BK all for $8, wonder where this discrepancy is coming from? Still kinda bummed I got shut out at TH for the vanilla rye, but definitely glad I didn't end up paying $14 for the coffee after finding it pretty easily locally.

New beer distributors had coffee for 14 each, VR for 30. Passed on the coffee, went around the corner to WF Bowery and copped a Coffee for 6.99! Seems completely arbitrary.

LOL - Guy at WF Bowery told me they were not going on sale until the 1st. Shocking how much misinformation surrounds the BC release this and last year.

Around 4pm. They put up a notice on BeerMenus around 3, guess you were a couple hours early :slight_frown:

I thought New Beer had a sign up saying the same thing, but lo and behold it was out today. Pretty much every store I talked to said the 1st. WF 23rd st and Columbus Circle both said they didn't have it yet so IDK.

A bodega in my neighborhood has coffee for $30 per 4-pack. Last year I might have passed it up, but with the wild price/allotment variation right now, I figured this might be the best I find and jumped on it.

I was told last year it took months for some places in NYC to sell their coffee, is there still coffee and barley wine in NYC or is this cut back as it was elsewhere.

It sounds like most places that got coffee have either put it out and sold it already, or are holding back until Monday or so and then will sell out in hours. Whether or not additional shipments come in or not is the lasting question.
