Agreed. Weihenstephaner Dunkelwiesse is as close to perfection that a beer can come, IMO

I'm sure Boston Lager, Brooklyn Lager, Long Trail Ale and just about every American Kolsch I have ever had are vastly different than what the traditional examples are. Nevertheless, they taste good to me. I'd like to have what the traditional examples taste like, but until then, I'm satisfied with these.

Blue Moon Belgian White is the best selling craft-style beer in the US, so there's that.

    Jesse,

Since you appear to be broad minded on the topic of a Kolsch type beer I would highly recommend Captain Lawrence Kolsch beer to you. I enjoyed drinking that beer.

    Cheers!

Due to the success of Blue Moon, and to a lesser degree Allagash White, I've always wondered why more breweries can't duplicate it/don't brew a witbier.

In regards to hefeweizens, Weihenstephan's is in liquor stores and bars all around me, and to this day remains highly rated on this website. This is another style that I wonder why more brewers can't/don't brew more of them. Although good American examples, like Sierra Nevada's Kellerweis, don't appear to sell as well.

@SammyJaxxxx Sent me a bottle of that a while back. Honestly, I don't remember it specifically, but I do remember enjoying everything I was sent! Captain Lawrence doesn't make it to Rhode Island, but it does come to Connecticut, where I frequently am for my career. I will keep an eye open and check it. Thanks!

Pa come in many forms, IPAs are Pas, etc. some are aggressive some are not, Brewers descretion on this one, and not so easy to nail down. Labeling has a lot to do with competitions and the brewer, after all pale only means dry. So what, Rolling Rock says Pale too.

Devils Backbone is doing pretty good with they're Vienna Lager as a flagship beer.
