I've perused multiple "Vermont trip" threads here and have accumulated enough for a plan, but still have some questions that did not have obvious answers posted already. Apologies if I missed something.

I'll be flying into Boston at 6 am on Friday and driving straight up to Vermont. The current plans is to get to HF around 11:30 am, then go to Montpelier for lunch at Three Penny and afterwards to Hunger Mountain Coop for Heady/Lawson's. The rest of the day most likely will be spent in Waterbury, staying overnight at Best Western.

What I'd like to find out is:

    1. When does Hunger Mountain get Lawson's on Friday? If it's early, then I could potentially go there first and then to HF.
    2. Since I'll be getting to Vermont around 9:30-10:00am, I was hoping to eat somewhere. What's a good place to get breakfast in the area I'm going?
    3. I heard that Mad Taco is good, but which location is better, Waitsfield or Montpelier?
    4. Is there a place that might have Focal Banger for purchase?
    5. Best place for dinner in Waterbury?
    6. And finally, which place(s) would you recommend to go on Saturday morning?

Appreciate your insights and help with tweaking my plan. Cheers.

Hunger Mountain receives their Heady Topper delivery Thursday at 9:00 a.m. I was told by one of their employees that it rarely lasts much past noon, although I guess that might vary depending on the time of year and what other beer events happen to be going on.

The Alchemist's website lists delivery days for Heady Topper. Perhaps you can find another place to stop that receives their delivery on Friday. http://alchemistbeer.com/buy/

I believe Lawson's is also delivered to Hunger Mountain on Thursdays, although when I was there I spoke with a not-very-helpful employee (who was probably tired of being asked beer-related questions) who would only say they expected to receive it some time between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. I ended up going to the Warren Store, which received their Lawson's delivery around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.

#3 Both are great, so no worries. Better beer selection in Waitsfield.
#4 No Focal Banger unless there is a truck sale.
    #5 Hen of the Wood

Heady delivery is now Thursdays at Hunger Mountain, so you're probably out of luck there. CBC Waterbury almost always has 4-packs available, and HeadySpotter (https://twitter.com/headyspotter) can help you find more. Your best bet on Lawson's @ Hunger Mountain is to call and ask, since it's moved around a bit.

Don't count on getting out of HF before 1 unless you'll be happy with the bottle-only line. The line is unpredictable, but half an hour before open there's typically about an hour's worth of folks in front of you. You might want to consider Parker Pie for lunch, as it's a good bit closer to HF than Three Penny.

youbrewidrink is correct that Hen of the Wood is the best restaurant in Waterbury (and super close to the Best Western), but if you're looking for a more casual dinner, I've had the best luck at the Reservoir. Pro Pig has great snacks, but I've found their mains/BBQ pretty inconsistent. Worth visiting both, for sure.

Couldn't have planned that any better. There's a truck sale on Saturday...

Nice! Any idea if I can buy single 4-packs instead of a full case?

Well, if you're going up this weekend, your plans just changed. The Alchemist announced a truck sale Sat Dec 6th at 1 pm.
    Focal Banger and Luscious.

IMHO, Focal Banger is worth the airfare to check home, and Luscious sounds amazing. But if you really just want a 4-pack or two, I'm sure you'd have no trouble finding folks at the sale to take the rest of the case off your hands at cost, regardless of whether they're letting you split it.

I third the Resv Tavern for dinner. If money is not an object the Hen of The Wood.

Is Hen of the Wood the kind of place you can just go for a drink though?

If money is no object, yes. They will have Heady and some good Belgians, usually including Cantillon. If I was just drinking, I'd check the tap lists at the Reservoir and Prohibition Pig, both very nice bars, and decide which one sounded best. For food, I'd personally skip the Pig; inconsistent at best and pricey. The Reservoir has good pub food and some more upscale dishes if you want. You don't really have to choose though. Except for Hen of the Wood, everything is in a very compact area in the village center, all within a 30 second walk. HOTW is about a 5 minute stroll away (and your hotel is another 4-5 minutes on foot).

HotW is very wine-centric with a limited taplist. Exquisite menu though. Pricey but awesome. No bar to sit at if you're solo - is very much a resto experience.

I had one of the best meals/experiences there a few years back...saddle of rabbit w/ house made gnocchi that just melted in your mouth, a super cheese plate, oysters, house made truffles, the works....all accompanied by Heady Topper on draft. You could go for just a drink....but you'll wish you stayed for the food. I would totally go here for the food, then hit the Res, ProPig or Blackback for the "just drinks" part.

I'm pretty sure you can buy a 4 pack if you want. They know they're gonna sell everything within 2 hours or so; no reason not to sell 4 packs. Just buy a case though. After a taste you will probably want it all. My wife and I will be in line for sure; see you there.

Yes. We don't spend the big bucks there too often but when we do we never regret it.

I had dinner at Hen of Wood the last two trips I took to Vermont. The food and the quiet atmosphere was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant, but be sure to make reservations. If you want to have drinks go to Prohibition Pig or Blackback, you will not be disappointed.

Sounds good. What's a good time to show up for that line?
