On a hunch, I took it upon myself to search the ISO:FT forum for just such a post.

The ISO has been removed and the account of the OP was permanently retired.

people prefer this one fresh. I'd say whatever 2 bottles of 2014 Coffee would trade for, or like $13 ish of limited beer

I've seen a few potshots at Chicagoland and Illinois traders "protecting value" on Prop deals, etc. I just want to say as someone in that boat, in the past year I've only actively sought out 2-4 new trades or public ISO. What do you think I was asked about each and every time? How bout Prop? Got any Prop? Anybody ask about Half Acre, Revolution, Pipeworks, New Glarus, etc? Not a chance. This whole thing works both ways. If folks want to crap all over every other Chicagoland brewery outside of asking for Zombie Dust, then expect locals here to hoard Prop or ask for the highest bidder. I don't have any extras this year, so I've got no skin in this Prop game as they say. I just thought I'd point out exactly how things went with Prop 1.0 last year.

As to the bottle count/availability argument, Goose Island has been barrel aging stout since 1992 and bottling it for around a decade. At some point, the beer drinking community deciding that "value" should relate to the actual beer in the bottle. I can only speak for myself here, but why would I want to trade a BA stout from the ones that do it the best on the planet for almost any other BA stout? I can understand trading it for Lambic or wild ales because of a style preference. I can understand trading it for a multitude of bottles from an economics standpoint. Sometimes we get caught up in hype and bottle counts rather than examining quality of the product that is to be consumed.

Yeah. Guys, don't forget that you see far more ISO Proprietor's than FT Proprietor's. It's a matter of demand outpacing even the relatively large supply.

...and sometimes we discount how hard a "shelf beer" can be to obtain, let alone in multiples. We also tend to forget the basic theories of supply and demand. Say what you want about bottle counts, where I am, less than 2 dozen cases came to distro and some are being held for events or raffles, etc...so while there may 10s of thousands of these available, in my area, it would've been a hell of a lot easier to obtain a bottle or a few of a brewery only release numbering in the hundreds.

Not to mention, bourbon county series is one of the few that has a proven track record of aging gracefully for about 5 yrs.

That's true for almost all beers and I don't think it's particularly indicative of demand exceeding supply in general. I post ISOs when I'm looking for something. I very rarely make a FT-driven post. If I find I've got some extras of something, I typically just search for ISOs for it, rather than posting a FT.

I heard that was the case (labeling issue) in MI this year. Can anyone verify?

I've kind of fallen out of the trading game lately so not sure what the consensus is about these. How is VR stacking up with:

    Aaron
    Damon (any)
    BGE
    Pugachev 25 or royale
    Leon
    A deal with the devil
    Le Sarrasin
    Any side projects
DB cake or any of the barrel aged Cakes
    Paraguesia
    Rum Barrel Caffe Americano
    SARA stuff
    CFH

I know the current climate is crazy for VR. Just trying to get a feel for what is reasonable. Thoughts?
