The store down the street from me does the same thing. They're a little bit upscale so their prices aren't the absolute best, but it's really handy when I'm in the mood for something in particular or want to try something new without committing to a six-pack.

My local beer distributor let's you put a mixed six together - they charge per bottle so it's more than a six pack of any of the 6 different beers. I usually end up paying $2-$3.50 per bottle. Sierra Nevada Big Foot Ale was the most expensive last time at $3.50 per 12oz bottle and there were a couple of $3 bottles. $15 is average for a mixed 6 - $11-$12 is average for a regular 6 pack .

My answer depends on the quality and individual prices of the beers involved. I usually just get the standard four or six pack instead of mixing. It's a better value and you get a more thorough experience with the beer. Sometimes one or two bottles isn't enough to fully grasp what a particular beer is all about.

I think two bucks a bottle for beers that are normally at or below that price is fine. When you start hitting the more expensive beers, I don't think a little per-bottle markup (10%) is out of line.

$9.99. IMO, theres no beer that is worth more than $10 for a sixer. To be fair though, we pay less for alcohol here in the midwest than some of you folks on the coasts do, so my idea of what a, "fair" price is may be a bit skewed.

If I am making a mix 6 and all the 6 packs that the beer came from sold for $10, I would expect to pay $12-13 for the 'make your own 6' version.

I'm generally a fan of the ~$13 mark (<$2.25/12oz bottle), but will certainly go above and beyond that depending on the contents.

I'd prefer to pay $15 or less, however, I did just pay 25.00 this weekend at a local restaurant. I'm thinking the beer I drank before I purchased played a role in my willingness to pay that much. HAHA

I just paid $20 for a Troegs Mad Elf, Great Divide Hibernation, Lagunitas Sumpin Wild, Thirsty 12 dogs, Sophie, & Scotty Karate. I am perfectly fine w/ it.

What I wasn't fine w/ was the bomber of Stone Enjoy by for $15.50. Too much.

The main grocery store near me charges $10 (I think), and I rarely touch it. It's full of things like Saranac, Southern Tier (not any of the 2X series), Great Lakes, SN...all things that are under $10 a piece on their own. It's hard for me to justify a mixer like that when I already know what I do or don't like.

So...your starting point of $13 is already out of the range for what I'd consider paying.

They can get pretty expensive, but if I'm filling it with $5 or $6 beers then I guess I know what I'm in for at the register.

I guess theoretically I'd pay anything for a mix-six, as long as the right beers where in it.

I usually stick to $2.50 or less per beer in a mixed six.
