First off, was anyone lucky enough to score some winning tickets?

I'd like your guys' opinion on this situation: I'm contacted to pick up bottles of KtG for a distant party who is going to purchase tickets over eBay for an exorbitant price. I declined because I don't really want to get involved in that sort of black market stuff, which IMHO is a little ridiculous. Am I being a total panzy? Should I just do it for a guy who otherwise won't be able to get this beer? Would appreciate your feedback. Cheers.

I know its frowned on here to mule but I don't see the problem with it. If it's not out of your way, I'd ask for some compensation and do it.

I hope there is some good compensation for it if thats the case.... I was lucky enough to win 4, but was nice enough to give one to a friend who didnt win any himself, told him it was his wedding present.

Tell your friend he's being ridiculous and spend the money on something else. Those tickets are going for over $50, plus you need to spend another $8 on the bottle. Over $60 for an 11oz bottle of beer?

I'm shocked the main forums don't have everybody emptying their bladder in one big pissing contest about Kate tickets etc yet.

I think the fact that they came and went so quickly while the forum was down alleviated the madness. Many people are probably blissfully unaware that they even went on sale.

Yeah, I didn't know they went on sale otherwise I would have made the trip down. Happened to be in Portsmouth this past weekend for a day trip, made my usual pitstop at the store and found tickets had gone on sale the previous weekend and disappeared promptly the same day. Oh well, there's always next year since I prefer to skip the tapping of the keg, been too hectic the past few years for a beer I only kind of like now.

I was kinda surprised that they did sell out in less than 24 hrs with BA being down. But, Im surprised that ther isnt a full on bitch session about Kate-gate and the pre-scratched tix controvers that was going on with Beerpulse and FB.

What happened on Beerpulse and FB?

Not even 24 hours. Went on sale about 5pm on Friday, were gone by about 2pm on Saturday. Unfortunately, I think a ton of people bought tickets on both Friday night and Saturday morning, since the allocation was "per day". I'm sure some aggressive people even went more often than that. Otherwise, I don't really understand how they sold out more quickly this year despite having more tickets and Beer Advocate down at the time.

I was going to head over on Saturday, but opted for the Marshall Wharf tap takeover at Novare Res instead. I definitely made the right call.

Yeah really, didn't they have double the tickets and double the # of bottles this year while shrinking the bottle size in half? I'm shocked they sold out so fast.

They need to figure out a better way to only allocate one batch per person. Also, they raised the limit from 10 to 15 at the last minute for some crazy reason. That certainly didn't help. I really think people were just more abusive this year than last.

Most of the hubbub over the tickets is that they apparently did not shuffle the winners into the losers very well. There were lots of 6-8 out of 15 winners (even some 15's out of 15's) and a correspondingly high number of 0 for large amounts. (Like groups who went 0-for-45 or 0-for-60).

Wow, brilliant! It seemed like that last year too though (win/loss ratio).

A guy on facebook proposed an idea about the packaging of guaranteed winning tickets into the 15packs. Went something like this:

    50%=2 winners
    25%=1 winner
    25%=3 winners

Everybody who shells out $30 is sure to get 1 bottle, and might get more. For those who won't buy the full 15 pack you take your chances of losing out, or not. Personally, I like it.
