Hardywood BA GBS Release

That's the FB event, and it says

"Bourbon GBS is a limited release and will be available at 11:00AM in 750mL bottles (2 bottle limit per person) to go, while supplies last. No growler fills. Bourbon GBS will be available in 6oz and 12oz pours for consumption at the brewery."

 

Does "limited release" mean brewery-only, or just initially released at the brewery and then distributed later? I know a lot of their barrel-aged stuff is distributed, but I've gotten conflicting info about whether this one will be or not.

 

I saw Churchkey in DC will be having it on tap next week, along with Xmas Morning, so i hope there is some good taps!

I have heard that it will go to distro, same markets that saw GBS

That was last updated on sunday, november 30th. I was there that day and the in-store menu just said regular GBS, so I think there's a good chance that's a mistake. I would at least call before I went.

Being 3 hours from Richmond im suprised we dont see any distro here in Winchester ( on any GBS)

 

So how long does this usually last before it runs out? Not 100% sure right now whether I can be there before 11 or not.

 

Hard to tell, people got back in line until it was gone, probably around 2?

 

Hell id even be happy if I could get my hands on the regular GBS!

 

I would like to try this, but I'm skeptical about barrel aging flavored beers. Especially after trying rum barrel Pumking.

 

It's hitting distro to RVA/NoVa. Smaller allocations than GBS but it will be out there next week.

What time are some of you getting there? I have nothing to do Saturday, so I'll be there around 9am.

 

I'm gonna try to get there by 9:30. The RVA Christmas parade is also Saturday so traffic and parking will likely be a nightmare.

 

I hear ya, but it's all about the quality of the base beer. Regular Pumpking is nothing short of disgusting, so of course the BA version will likely suck. Regular GBS though, is awesome.

 

So I know some from our local Facebook group will be there by 8am. I'm not trying to drive hype here, as I will be there, but am not waiting in line for bottles. Hitting up the craft show with the wife and drinking BA gbs on draft and will grab bottles through distro (yes this beer hits Hardywoods distro footprint). That said, I know a couple buddies who have tried this years tonight and said it's the best it has ever been, fwiw. Based on the lines for regular gbs, I'm sure this will be more ridiculous, and I just don't have the time to wait in line in the rain for a distributed beer. Hardywood will be packed Saturday though with this release and the craft show which starts at 10. Anyone in town should be sure to hit up The Answer Brewpub after to take part in the Screens n' Suds charity event going on that day. Awesome prints being sold to support MS, and a bunch of awesome drafts including Terrapin MooHooChiato and three new berry sours from Strangeways, among a bunch of other offerings.
