As a third party, you've stumped me if that's not what you meant by:
"You do realize that the much, much higher bottle count this go around means these won't be valuable like last time, right?"

Not to mention, it is pretty valuable. Take a look at the forums on here, just about every post is ISO Vanilla Rye

So out of curiousity, what did the Foodery spots end up charging? Aside from the lines and having my own plan that luckily worked out, I've always felt slightly ***** every time I've bought beer from them in past and figured Black Friday would be no different (but haven't seen any posts about crazy price gouging as I expected). Just curious, def happy for all that were able to score coffee and vanilla from them, sounds like it was well run too at all locations.

I honestly didn't wait in line for a raffle for the Vanilla because I give a fuck what it's worth. I stood in line at a chance to get it since I wanted to drink it as I really enjoy vanilla flavors, especially in stouts. I would've done the same for Proprietors if I had the chance to or it was available outside of Chicago because as with vanilla, i really enjoy coconut. Aside from that, I wasn't going to drive all over the place trying to get a bottle. The store I went to was on the way back from wegmans, so it wasn't like I went out of my way. I honestly don't do any other shipping on black friday, so this was a treat to myself.

In the end, I ended up procuring one bottle of vanilla from my local that I was on a waiting list buy I wasn't guaranteed anything so that's why I went out black Friday.

I couldn't care less, not trading mine.
This. The first one I had a taste of at a GI event at a bar and it was phenomenal, I only hope that the new batch is close to as good.
The reason is because you're shaking your head at its "value" when plenty of us don't give a damn about value, we care about quality, and this beer promises unparalleled quality.

I don't remember the exact price of the vanilla, but it was right around $30 with tax. All the 12oz bottles were $9. I didn't buy my full allocation of regular since I'll be able to find it for $5 around here, but for vanilla and coffee, those prices are fine.

I think his point was to question whether any beer is really worth paying more than a dollar per ounce.

I bought a bottle of the Backyard Rye last year, which I think was $18 in Delaware. Most I'd ever spent on a single bottle. Yet to me it wasn't really appreciably better than the top off-the-shelf Imperial Stouts (like Founders RIS, Stone IRS, or Bell's Expedition) to justify that it's multiple times more expensive.

The words that struck a cord with me were "those prices are fine"

If you believe that then you are a sucker.

I had the bar set at 50 cents an ounce two years ago :grimacing:

Yeah, that's just a philosophical difference then. I'm not hung up on price per ounce. If I like a beer and think the taste is worth the price, I'll buy it.

I also think there's a massive difference between top BA stouts and the shelf stouts you mentioned. There's no point in arguing if you disagree - that's your opinion.

I don't think they are questioning the fact you could find it cheaper, I think they are saying No BEER is worth that much to them. Which is fine, but everyone has a different budget and a different limit on what they will pay for a product and what it will cost per their time to get it or do something else which they feel is more important.

Yeah, I generally pass on anything higher than $10 for a bomber. The aforementioned Backyard Rye and FW Sucuba have been a few of the rare exceptions.

Honestly the Delaware state police should of pulled you over, arrested you and confiscated your alcohol purchased in Pennsylvania. That's how we are treated when we shop in your state.

At 3:00pm they still have plenty of regular, coffee and barleywine available. They had 3 bottles of vanilla, but they were raffled off.
