Anybody know why this one isn't being brewed at the moment? For a brewery that's had such insane success with their BA stouts, it's weird to me that this one (or big John) isn't a yearly release. Is it because all their stout-making goes into BCBS?
They're still riding they hype of BCBS. Give it a month before their solid, less-hyped released hit shelves. And when they do, i am hoping they don't follow the same vein of BCBS and increase 25-35% in price.
Brand dilution. Alternately, all the Cook County Stout is going into BCBS production. Alternately alternately, the brewers are bored with it.
It's a shame either way; I haven't had the Muddy yet, but I've heard it's nothing special, and given that GI only releases BCBS once a year to the rapid hordes, it'd be nice to have a regular stout from them more often (Clybourn brewpub offerings notwithstanding).
The Muddy is... OK. Again, overpriced for what you're getting. Reminded me of Alderaan (non-BA Deth's Tar) with a few more spices thrown in.
