Hello BA's, I live in an area of PA where the quality bar selection is, let's say questionable. To the point that I pretty much stopped going to bars all together. Well, last night I checked out Breaker Brewing Company's taproom and was thoroughly impressed. While all the beers were just pretty good the atmosphere and staff were great.

So, Where are all the best brewpubs/taprooms in the northeast part of the US that I NEED to check out?

    Travis,

Maybe a trip to Southeastern PA is in order here?

Plenty of high quality brewpubs in the Philly area:

    · Tired Hands

    · Forest & Main

    · Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery

    · Triumph Brewpub (New Hope)

    · Iron Hill (multiple locations)

    · Etc.

There are also brewpubs affiliated with production breweries that serve an extensive list of high quality beers:

    · Sly Fox (Phoenixville)

    · Victory (Downingtown)

Also plenty of high quality beer bars

    · Capones (Norristown)

    · TJs Everyday (Paoli)

    · Teresas Next Door (Wayne)

    · Etc.

Plus plenty of great beer venues in downtown Philly as well.

    Cheers!

Don't get back that way too much anymore but there is a new one opening up right off the Dallas highway where The Dough Company used to be. I drove past yesterday and it was under construction. Endless Brewing in Montrose is supposed to be good but that's in the middle of nowhere. I haven't heard much about Breaker Boys but it's good to hear a positive review. And honestly, I like Susquehanna for good, drinkable beers. Nothing that's going to blow you away or crush your palate, but they are respectable. Outside of that, the area is shit for breweries.

In terms of locating them, the best website I've found is pubquest.com ... It lists all places that make their own beer, so some of those really out-of-the-way places are easy to find using their map.

Given that you appear to be in bumblefuck PA, I'd recommend a trip to Selin's Grove brewing.

If you ever get over to New York, Peekskill Brewery is a top notch brewpub, absolutely worth a trip. Great food, great beer, great staff. The whole shebang, if you will.

I don't know how close you live to Breaker Brewing, so I don't know how far you are from Peekskill, but it's about 2 hours from Breaker Brewing at least.

Dogfish in Rehoboth Beach, DE. I think it's a must for anyone in the NE area.

A bit off topic here, but do these brewpubs serve beers brewed at their production facilities? What are the PA laws about a single company operating as both of those entities? Does this go against any three-tier regulations (I assume not) or require any special licensing/circumstances?

    Edit:

What’s on tap today at the Sly Fox Brewpub and Tasting Room: http://www.slyfoxbeer.com/index.php/front/beer_list

There are quite a few in the Lancaster area. Spring House, Lancaster Brewing Co, Bube's, Iron Hill, and Columbia Kettle Works among others. Troegs is in the general area as well.
