Actually I wouldn't mind making this a "Blind tasting" thread if anyone else would like to post some cool blind tasting videos. Here's another on a few of the "better" BBS' http://blip.tv/beergeeknation/bourb...g-beer-geek-nation-craft-beer-reviews-6562007
Thanks for posting. Very interesting to watch. All I would say is that in both the first and third vids you posted, the taster(s) had BCBS before any of the other beers. When that happens BCBS is destined to win IMO, due to the fact that it's just generally a bigger beer. On a handful of occasions I've had another imperial stout (both BA and non-BA) after BCBS and it's just tasted like the shell of it's normal self. Also in the first vid the guy seems surprised about the lack of coffee in KBS. But if they were drinking a 2012 in 2013 (which is when this was posted), I don't think that should be mind-blowing. Edit - and in the third vid, just based on all of his descriptions, I knew it was going to be BCBS, Parabola, BN - so funny that he got it so wrong. But I guess that's the beauty of the blind test.
I never would have grabbed green pepper out of KBS. Pretty sure I have a 2012 in the cellar, so I guess I have to pop one open now and see if I get it as well. I'm certain I have a 2012 BCBS, just haven't opened one yet (since the release) so based on their description I am looking forward to it even more now.
I wouldn't mind being the taster on any of these videos, but watching people drink beer is as exciting as watching other people play video games
Just by their descriptions it's easy to pick out which is which. This made me want to try Anchor since it sounds interesting. I love Founders Porter, though I think Eddy Fitz is a better example of the style since Founders is really pushing into what I consider single stout territory. Black Butte is a good option, but I do think it's clearly not as good as either GLBC and Founders.
Totally I had an idea to crush/flatten a bunch and laminate them to the top of a cocktail table. I think that would be cool.
The second he tasted the first beer (hell, when he mentioned the carbonation), I knew it was Mexican Chocolate Stout. I want to like that beer, but I can't. It's got way too much cinnamon for me.
